Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Smartlook is used by the Product team and punctually by developers. We use it to understand some bugs reported by our users and to understand how our users interact with the app and how we could improve it. It is really useful for us and allowed us to solve issues.

Hotjar

I have used Hotjar, but the tool can only analyse data for websites, not for mobile applications. Smartlook is the only tool I have ever found to record user sessions on mobile applications.

I think Smartlook is the only tool to record user sessions so easily for an app. For example, looking at the sessions can help you identify a button that is not clear for your users or an action that they never do because they don't understand. Another scenario is when a user tells you he/she has a problem, and you can exactly see what user journey brought him/her to the problem to solve it quickly.
