Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer
We use it to monitor the company's production SQL server. It's being used by the IT infrastructure and the Development departments. Mostly, it gives us an insight into what is going on behind the scenes and if there are any problems with the SQL server, if it's being slow, which queries are causing problems, etc.
Pros
- Shows SQL utilization over time.
- Identifies slow queries.
- Identifies bottlenecks.
Cons
- Navigation can be tricky and it's not very intuitive.
- It helped us to identify and improve some poorly written queries.
- It enabled us to identify potential problems.
- It enables us to troubleshoot and find out the root cause of a problem much quicker.
We actually never tried other products. After some research, SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer seemed the best match for our needs, and we were happy after the trial period, so we kept it.
