Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Netflow Traffic Analyzer

We use SolarWinds Netflow Traffic Analyzer (NTA) widely on the corporate network, and deploy at premise sites when we see a need to drill down on a network. This allows us to keep an eye on any bottlenecks, both in our corporate, data centers, and customer facility networks. It has served us well when we use it.
  • One you get used to the UI, endpoints are easy to locate and understand.
  • Integration with other SolarWinds products.
  • Graphs and reports are easily obtainable.
  • It's not aesthetically pleasing at all.
  • They really should consider rebuilding the UI. It takes a good while to learn the ins and outs.
  • When a site is having persistent network problems and we have trouble finding the source, it could impact revenue. This is where NTA comes in and helps speed up the diagnosis.
To be perfectly honest, I've never used a comparable product to NTA. As a matter of fact, I have never used anything other than SolarWinds monitoring products at all. That could be a negative thing to some, but consider the fact that my company has never found a need to switch to another product.
Deploying NTA on a large scale would be too bandwidth intensive for us, if we were to deploy it globally. However, it has its place in monitoring our corporate network for network congestion/bottlenecks, not to mention policy/security violations. We have used it a handful of times when we had problematic sites and it assisted us in the troubleshooting process.
