SAMs best at Monitoring, Alerting and Troubleshooting our environments issues.
Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor
SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor (SAM) is used across our entire environment - monitoring all servers and providing alerts and information to multiple departments. This addresses and confirms if issues are seen with systems and assists in the troubleshooting at various levels. We also use SAM to provide alerts to application owners and impacted parties to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.

- Better linkage for virtualization within the home page
- Better details available for VMs
- Always assists with alerting and works well
- Very good for historical information
- Provides a good "double check" when used with our other reporting tools
- Good for forecasting
Other than SolarWinds Orion Server and Application Monitor, we have used the Microsoft monitoring solution, System Center Operations Manager SCOM, as well as VMware's Vrealize suite of products. We also use the Dell EMC tool Vipr as well as tools that are built into our virtualization platforms including VBlock and VxRail as well as Dell-Emc, HPE and a variety of other hardware specific solutions. We have not used a product other than SolarWinds Orion Server and Application Monitor that provides the amount of detail in one place nor have we considered changing or using another product.
