Overall Satisfaction with Storylane
I used Storylane to create targeted product demos as leave-behinds for our Sales team post-live demos. Storylane enabled me to show app experiences from multiple perspectives (e.g. recruiter, interviewee, etc.) that are otherwise difficult to show in real time demos without clunky logging in and out. It also enabled me to show the product without the need to create free trials or demo accounts that open up the system to prospective customers.
Pros
- Storylane captures your screens effectively when building a guided demo.
- Storylane makes it easy to select elements to highlight as hotspots to show tooltips.
- Storylane makes it easy to organize your screens and guides into chapters and product tours.
Cons
- Storylane has the ability to capture video as well as screen captures, but I did not always receive consistent video capture. Some moments were lost and I could not recover without recapturing.
- Storylane loses its recording progress if you click a link that opens in a new tab or window.
- Storylane's pricing jumps very dramatically if you want to access HTML/sandbox environments for demos.
- I cannot attest to the ROI as I created Storylanes for my company shortly before making a career change. I anticipate that it will shorten the sales cycle as it will help champions convince decision makers who were not present during a live demo.
Storylane seems very comparable to Walnut in terms of functionality and ease of navigation in the tool. I'm using a full sandbox experience in Walnut, so it's not quite apples to apples, but the basic functionality is similar. I used product tool tips, AI text-to-speech, and screen capture in similar manners with similar results.
