Overall Satisfaction with Tableau Desktop

Tableau is used for data reporting and dashboard creations. Since we have a huge amount of data stored in SQL servers it is really hard to use excel for data reports creation. Thus we use Tableau for the generation of reports directly from the SQL database. We use it across various departments such as sales, finance, and Production for KPI monitoring Project cost monitoring, etc.

Pros

  • Dashboard Creation.
  • Fast connection to SQL, Oracle Databases.
  • Automatic Data Refreshing.

Cons

  • Report refresh rate needs to be improved.
  • Support for more visual graphs.
  • Cost of the license should be reduced.
  • Man Hours are saved in manually creating the reports.
  • The scheduler helps to automatically refresh reports.
  • Easily KPIs can be monitored for various business units which have overall improved the efficiency of the business teams.

It is easy to use and also provides mobile connectivity for viewing reports. It easily connects to databases and provides easy drag and drop functionality for generating graphs. Very easy to schedule and refresh reports. User access can be easily controlled by the admin. Very intuitive interface and is secure for handling confidential data.
Any bugs or new features that I have required I update it in the user community forum usually a moderator from tableau support responds and provides the necessary solutions. Also, the user group in the forums are interactive for Q/A related to the product features.
Highly suitable for data already available in databases Suitable for handling large volumes of data Can handle multiple tables smoothly without any lag in loading Not suitable if source data is unstructured without clear headers and wrong data formats. Not suitable if data sources are excel copies saved in local machines.
