Overall Satisfaction with Tableau Online

Our organization uses Tableau [Online] to effectively share data across many different business units. We have so many different data points and were previously using excel and other tools to share it with less than stellar results. We find that using Tableau [Online] makes reporting cleaner and easier to understand. We also built an integration with our software so that our customers can use our API to pull data from our tools to build their own reports in Tableau.
  • Dashboards
  • Compiling data and making a variety visual charts
  • Connects easily to most databases
  • Can easily blend data
  • Usable on many different device types
  • Their paid version can be pricier than some competitors
  • Report distribution can a challenge
  • You need technical resources to get things up and running
  • When we release new products, we are now able to quickly see data and toggle between current periods and previous to see performance
  • Generating new reports requires less IT time to build
  • Data can be shared across many different device types
  • We now have integration where our customers can extract data from our software more easily-this was a big ask from our customers
Prior to Tableau [Online], we were using complicated excel formulas and reports that were prone to break or were not easy to format. We used a few free tools before moving forward with Tableau. The free tools also had limitations but we found that the reports, ease of use (once set up) and integrations of the paid version made it worth the money

We have been able to pull in a large amount of data easily and create easy to understand dashboards, features that many other tools are not capable of or have a difficult time doing. It can provide reporting for a variety of different levels of needs-from analytical to executive. Once set up, it is very intuitive and can easily be modified for any audience and allows you to get to specific data points.
I personally do not use the support often, mainly because it is fairly easy to use and requires little assistance once up and running. But there is a good community support you can tap into so there is a lot of existing information and "how to" information available online. In addition, since it is pretty widely used, there were many members on our team already experienced in using the tools.
[Tableau Online] is a very robust tool and allows you to create reports for all different levels of your organization. And with it's ability to extract data from so many different tools, you can easily pull in data from many different systems to give you a single report. You can also easily filter dashboards to show different levels versus having to edit. Once up and running, it is really pretty easy to generate dashboards.
