Overall Satisfaction with Tableau Online

Tableau Online is used in my organization to help share and present data in meaningful ways, particularly with dashboards that offer dynamic visuals, slicing and dicing of metrics, and of course exporting filtered data into Microsoft Excel. It is addressing the business problem of having lots of data, and a need to summarize, visualize, and share this data across the entire organization.
  • Great visuals
  • Excellent customization
  • Easy data exports
  • Building dashboards and reports can get complex and sometimes difficult, depending on the source of the data
  • Tableau Online has made a positive impact as the data shared and summarized in the dashboards help communicate overall business activity and KPI tracking.
In my opinion, while Microsoft Power BI is a bit easier to build reports and dashboards with in part to its shared traits and connectivity with other Microsoft products, Tableau Online allows for a greater depth of customization, data sourcing, and most of all the sharing of the data in terms of easy Excel downloads.

Do you think Tableau Online delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Tableau Online's feature set?

Yes

Did Tableau Online live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Tableau Online go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Tableau Online again?

Yes

From an end user perspective Tableau Online is overall very easy to navigate once you get used to it, my only complaint is that when expanding or contracting a graph, the "plus" and "minus" on the bottom left is sometimes hidden, and should always be visible. From a builder perspective, it can take some getting used to but the sheer depth of customization makes it all worthwhile.
I have not had any issues that require customer support from Tableau at this time, which speaks well to Tableau. I have taken an online course with Tableau and it was very professional and well done, so based on that I would assume a similar level of quality for their customer service.
Tableau Online is well suited for companies with large datasets and a need to drill down into that data, as well as summarize it in a convenient way, and to then share that data summary. It would be less appropriate for a company that does not make use of data.
