Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The Okta Identity Cloud is used by our entire company to manage all of the access to our Cloud-based programs. It makes it easy for all our employees, regardless of where they work from whether or not they're in the office to easily access all of their assigned programs via one single token based login.

Pros and Cons

Extremely simple to use and manage
Excellent mobile app regardless of the OS you're using
Easily manages a user access level and the programs that are assigned to them
Simple UI that's configurable per user

It can be confusing for the first-time user to switch between The Okta Identity Cloud sign-on and the token generating app if they're trying to do everything from their phone.

Return on Investment

The Okta Identity Cloud single sign-on managed to replace 2-3 different pieces of software we had been using to manage user-level access
Now that it's up and running it's super easy to deploy
With it's mobile app we also can now reach our entire employee base globally

Independent Platform

Although a lot of our services are under AWS, we do have specific needs for some software to be hosted in other Cloud environments. We've had no issues integrating all of them under The Okta Identity Cloud. It's been a single-point solution for us which we're extremely happy with.

Customer First Team

We haven't had to rely much on The Okta Identity Cloud's customer support, but they've always been helpful and solve any issue we may have. They were closely involved in helping us implement the solution and have been a reliable partner.

Reliability

So far since we've used the product we've had zero downtime and have encountered no outages that have impacted our day to day business needs. The uptime was definitely a huge factor when making the decision to purchase the product since we're a global company working in many different timezones.

Alternatives Considered

Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)

The Okta Identity Cloud was highly recommended to us by other business partners, so there was not a lot of comparison to other products other than the fact we knew we weren't happy with our existing Cisco Identity Services Engine. From what we've worked with in the past, this system has allowed us to retire it, and it was an excellent choice.

Likelihood to Recommend

Being that we're a global company of over 3000 employees, we desperately needed a way to manage each user's access easily at the employee level or by specific groups. The Okta Identity Cloud has definitely solved that for us. It was easy to implement, and we have very few issues at the individual user level. Now that a lot of our employees are remote or working from the road, The Okta Identity Cloud's mobile app for single sign-on has been extremely useful as well. It's well laid out and gets the job done. User access was definitely an area we struggled with before this came along.
