Overall Satisfaction with Thinkific

Thinkific is a good course platform. We've had less issues with it than we did with Teachable, though like any platform is has some limitations. We use it for all our online courses and delivery of some bonus content as well. We also use the communities feature.

Pros

  • Integration with Email Marketing Platform
  • Easy to use interface
  • Ability to create simple landing pages

Cons

  • Bulk enrollment/unenrollment, specifically related to communities
  • The ability to see who is currently an active member in a community
  • The ability to schedule monthly charges rather than have them be whenever the user enrolls. For example, to run a cohort program.
  • Increased sales due to Apple/Google Pay options
  • Relatively easy to give add-on options or upsells
  • Increase MRR through subscription based programs
As I've mentioned before, the biggest limitation I currently see with the platform is related to the communities feature. It is quite simplistic and doesn't have great management ability. Other than that, the platform is quite simple to use. You simply upload your course and off you go. It's also easy to bundle various courses, though the multiple options can at times also make it a bit confusing (ie. should this be a standalone course, part of a bundle, etc.)
We migrated from Teachable to Thinkific because we had multiple issues with the Teachable platform. We had issues with purchases going through correctly and with people getting the content they were supposed to get. We did not have these issues with Teachable. While LearnDash is certainly more customizable, it would have required a lot more management to build out the course as it has so many customizable options. Ultimately, Thinkific does what we need it to do.

Thinkific is a great course platform. It does has limitations related to communities and I think if someone needed a more robust community platform there are better suited solutions. From the course perspective though, Thinkific is a simple to use platform and has a good user experience on both sides (customer and administrator).
