Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO Data Virtualization
The business problem was client was having data distributed across
multiple data silos/ data sources..The data was also generated
by multiple departments / locations across the company. Since the data
was generated by multiple channels, the management was facing problem
with multiple version of same data with incomplete information. There
was need to have a single source of data , so the data can be a trusted
data and can be used across each departments with each
channel/department contributing additional info of the data. So the
company wanted to build a data lake , so as to have single source of
data for better data governance and use this data for growth of company.
To implement this there was need to connect to all the data sources of
the company which was spread in different geographic locations at on
premises and cloud. Since the data was spread across different
geographical locations in few locations data was stored in legacy
system, where there was no scope to upgrade or move the data to other
data storage. So these were critical applications where there was need to get this data without impacting the existing business which depended on this legacy systems. The standard way of getting data through
ETL was also taken into consideration, but there was lot of limitations
and disadvantages. So after analyzing all the available technologies it
was decided to implement the data virtualization which itself has lot
of benefits from technology wise and from cost wise.So the company
decided to implement TIBCO Data Virtualization as it was perfect tool
which had all the industry
standard adapters readily available to connect to cloud and on premises
data. Now after implementing TIBCO Data Virtualization, the company can
get any new data source which is implemented at their different
geographical locations into their main data lake within fraction of
time. This gives freedom for the the IT team at different geographical
location to implement their IT needs without worrying about the Data
related technologies or storage. Based on the resource availability and
IT budget the IT team can now implement or procure hardware/software where as TIBCO Data Virtualization is playing a important role of connecting to all these data source and presenting this data has single unified layer of data which is further utilized to build the data lake.

- For better governance of data using other tibco tools like ebx , bw , spotfire there should be adapters available which can be used to communicate with other tibco tools.

Yes we are currently using the TIBCO Data Virtualization where 70% of data is on premise while 30% of data is on cloud like AWS S3 and Athena.Since the industry standard data which are published by large government agencies across world are used for bench marking are mostly stored in cloud , so as to be easily accessible. So this requires the organization to connect this data on cloud, analyze this data along with the data generated by their organization and which is stored on premises. Presently this both data as single unified layer helps the data science engineer to build data models which is very highly beneficial for the growth of organization and need of the hour.
Since TIBCO Data Virtualization can be implemented with wide range of products with other TIBCO Products so this makes TIBCO stand out from other products.
