Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365
I use Veeam Backup for [Microsoft] Office 365 for a number of our companies in order to have a secondary backup of data on-site for quick restoration when/if needed. Previous IT team members only relied on Sharepoint's built-in backup solution, which is not sufficient.
Pros
- Easy to configure and connect to 365 tenant
- Does not over utilize resources on local server during the backups
- Intuitive backup and restore process
Cons
- Restore functionality would better be served through a wizard process
- We are still using the product in the Community Edition, so the ROI is great since it is backing up currently with no cost to us.
While Sharepoint has its own backup and recovery mechanisms, they are not sufficient when the data being stored there is vital to our business units.
We have had three instances in less than a month where the backed-up data with Veeam [Backup for Microsoft Office 365] was needed and used when data was deleted from Sharepoint.
We have had a couple of instances where restore back to [the] same area on 365 was needed to get the data back and accessible to end-users right away. We've also used the restore to [an] on-premise server which was used to parse through the data before uploading back to 365.
I really like the connection wizard to our 365 tenants. I tried to make the connection manually using instructions, but that would never work. I like its ability to do point-in-time restores.
Veeam [Backup for Microsoft Office 365]'s interface and setup is much more intuitive than its competitors.
