Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

We use Veeam to backup all of our VM's. We are about to implement cloud based Disaster Recovery also using Veeam.

Pros

  • Backup of virtual machines from VMware.
  • Ability to spin up VM's directly from Veeam.
  • Offsite duplication for Disaster Recovery.

Cons

  • Backup to tape functionality could be improved.
  • Backup to tape is very slow.
  • There is no support for backup of physical servers.
  • Peace of Mind. We know we are only a matter of minutes from full recovery.
  • Backup redundancy with cloud-based backup.
  • Comprehensive protection.
We really have not used any other solution than Veeam. We were using Backup Exec before and it doesn't handle backup of virtual machines.
[Veeam Backup & Replication is well suited for] Any virtual environment be it HyperV or VMWare.
