Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
I have used Veeam Backup & Replication in my previous job. We used this product to manage back-ups and recovery of our virtual machines running on VMware. The main problem it solved was that we could use one single dashboard to both view and manage our virtual machines backup and recovery operations, and we could easily find any problems if these occurred.
- Veeam Backup & Replication is one of the products that will be first to cover new products/techniques that should be backed up/recovered.
- It has a single dashboard to manage most of the backup/recovery structures.
- Compared with the competition, the price is fair/low.
- Official training courses are both expensive and very limited on instructors.
- MySQL integration is lacking.
- Gsuite backup would be nice.
- Better RPO and RTO on the VMware infrastructure.
- Lower operational costs on the management of business continuity where it concerned VMware virtual machines.
- We could still not use it to cover all backup needs, so we also had to use other backup/recovery applications.
We benefitted most from the easy way the configuration was done, both in taking not a lot of time and with no complex setup, while still reaching the predefined goals of getting our backup data to the right targets and (when needed) having easy access to the data and making recoveries almost a single click operation.
We haven't used these copy data management capabilities in its full range of possibilities. We have used it for the verification of data recoverability and ensuring compliance. This way, we could ensure to auditors that we were meeting certain standards, both from company policy and from legal regulations.
Veeam offers easier configuration and a better dashboard. Also, it will give you a fast and reliable way to configure repositories, and even to integrate tape robots in the process.
