Great for virtual environments
Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
We currently use Veeam Backup & Replication to provide weekly full and daily backups of our corporate VMware environment. Veeam Backup & Replication is used across our entire organization. Veeam Backup & Replication addresses all of our backup and replication needs as well as provide an easy to use recovery option in the unfortunate case of a VM failure.
Pros
- Veeam Backup & Replication connects to cloud providers for replication very seamlessly and makes for a more stout DR posture.
- Veeam Backup & Replication provides a very intuitive interface that makes getting up and running one less headache in the IT world.
Cons
- Nothing I can think of at this time.
- The very first time one of your technicians pushes out an update that crashes your server (VM) and you live recover the VM from Veeam, you potentially fulfill your proverbial ROI.
- Being able to perform a quick back or zip up a VM before you make changes that can destroy your live VM is priceless.
We currently use Dell/EMC DD2200 Data Domains coupled with Veeam Backup & Replication and replicate them to a cloud repository and are in alignment with what we expected when we acquired the product. We currently use Veeam Backup & Replication to replicate our entire virtual inventory to the cloud repository.
We have used this, however, our benefits are limited to just having our data replicated to the cloud.
Prior to our company implementing Veeam Backup & Replication, we used Backup-Exec. We made the decision to move to migrate to Veeam Backup and Replication due to its performance and functionality in a VM environment. My IT team never like using Back-Exec and we were very happy to roll out Veeam Backup & Replication in our update VM environment.
