Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
We are using Veeam Backup & Replication at the headquarters to back up VMs, while we backup physical servers at subsidiaries using Veeam Agent for Workstations. The advantage is that we can use a single console for both types of backups. We also use the tape backup functionality to backup data quarterly.
Pros
- Windows & Linux VM backup
- Application items restore (Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, ...)
- Tape backup
- Connectivity with Veeam Agent
- Scalability
Cons
- None that I can think of
- We have been able to recover invaluable data
About 100 VMs (mostly Windows, a few Linux servers), and about 25 physical servers, which are protected by Veeam Agent. Our environment is always growing. We needed scalability, that's why we have chosen Veeam Backup as a backup solution.
We do not use cloud backup services.
Yes, we are copying VMs to a second, disaster recovery location in case of a total loss of the main server room. With a good internet connection, this functionality is working really well.
I tested Altaro VM Backup a few years ago, but I missed the scalability and flexibility, which Veeam is offering.
