Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

We have an infrastructure that is mostly virtualized on-premise with some AWS and Azure cloud with onsite and offsite backups including a mix of various Windows OS as well as Linux. We backup offsite to AWS and Backblaze and have to Azure as well in the past with great success.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Capacity Tier to store data within object storage for longer term retention
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • Ability to restore file level easily and quickly
  • Vast knowledgebase to help with common errors or situations
  • Very reliable backup solution
  • Great support options
  • Ability to call into support from all support tiers
  • Scale computing support
  • Cost is high
  • Provide training videos to learn the product better

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

12 virtual, 1 cloud and 1 physical are currently protected. I have used this product prior to coming to this organization. All have performed more or less as expected.
  • Backup environment in 50% less time than prior solution
  • Peace of mind with security threats that can damage data
  • Able to automatically backup Linux environment which we could not prior
I was not here for this change when it was implemented. I am not sure and cannot comment on this as it was done years ago prior to me.
We offsite backup to a cloud environment. This allows us to know we have secure data that we can restore in case of catastrophic failure onsite.
We do not use a NAS.
Veeam Backup is appropriate for almost any enterprise environment as a backup solution. The product takes time to learn and understand though. Small businesses with an on-premises environment are very easy to set up and get working. Adding complications without support is a challenge if you do not know what you are doing.
