Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
We use the Veeam Data Platform solution for disaster recovery plans and to back up all of our data. We needed a tool capable of handling all our scenarios.
Pros
- Application backup
- restoration
- GFS backup policy
Cons
- Better indexation
- Virtualized workloads
- Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
- Enterprise applications such as Oracle or SAP HANA
- In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
- Enterprise UNIX servers running Solaris & IBM AIX
- Capacity Tier to store data within object storage for longer term retention
- Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
- “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
- I don’t know
500 and it's exactly what we anticipated
- peace of mind in the event of a breakdown
- Different license requirements between physical and virtual instances
- Lots of network traffic to anticipate
Following a major breakdown, we had another parallel backup solution which was aging and for practical reasons we decided to keep only Veeam.
Our entire infrastructure is physical
We don't use this feature because we don't have a NAS, we have storage bays with ISCSI links
- Atempo Time NAVIGATOR (TINA)
The operation is similar if TINA has better indexing. We decided to keep Veeam because the support is more efficient and the flexibility associated with VMWare is much greater, as it is nonexistent on TINA.
