Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
We use Veeam Data Platform for backups - both connected and removable storage. Also use the "replication" feature for disaster recovery. One other feature that's been used is to migrate several machines from one platform to another.
Pros
- on-site backup
- removable copies of the backups that can be stored off-site
- Maintaining duplicate images of servers for disaster recovery planning
Cons
- Speed. Faster is always better. Full backups are lengthy.
- Interface is sometimes difficult to find things. Could be more user friendly.
- Virtualized workloads
- In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
- Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
- “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)

4 virtual servers across two physical hosts
- We were able to recover from a ransomware attack using Veeam backups.
Have been using Veeam since migrating to a virtualized environment.
Not using cloud-based backups / storage.
