Vertex Indirect Tax O Series
Overall Satisfaction with Vertex
We use Vertex to assist our POS system's tax accounting. We also use Vertex via a call from Coupa for use tax accruals and invoice validation. The sales and use team reviews transactions using Vertex output on a monthly basis. The system is robust and easy to modify for our specific industry needs.
Pros
- Taxability - yes or no? - quick, accurate responses
- Unknown areas - good tools to address nuance in certain transactions
- Well organized data tables for analyzing the law and our company's key variables
Cons
- Sometimes it is a slow and painful process to write a logical rule for a specific - or general - transaction not otherwise addressed in Vertex logic
- My boss thinks that the product is very expensive!
- Once committed to the Vertex product, it is difficult to argue for a change.....
- We use Vertex on a monthly basis to see if tax has been over-accrued or over-charged on invoices. We do save tax every month using the tool. Not at liberty to share too much more - the technology does assist the human efforts.

Accuracy is certainly the key to using the product in 1000's of jurisdictions across the United States. We are pleased with the accuracy regarding rules and rates. We are happy with the customer service and follow through from account representatives and special consultants. We would recommend the product for other companies in our industry.
The decision was made prior to my arrival at the organization but I believe that we've committed time and resources to the product and would not easily change our platform. We appreciate the efforts to educate users and create a happy and productive customer experience.
