Overall Satisfaction with Viewpoint Vista

Track cost - accounting - payables purchase orders - projections
  • Payroll system is outstanding. Easy to enter time and send out paycheck stubs.
  • Issuing purchase orders. Track budgets for individual jobs.
  • WIP reports, timely financial data.
  • Areas of improvement: equipment program use and trying to find solution through learning.
  • Imports: not as easy as the knowledge based leads on.
  • Crystal Reports is confusing even after completing the training on the subject.
  • Time savings
  • Export to Excel to send to clients (resource management)
  • Real time data
  • Increase efficiency with the real time data.
  • Projections - align where the project is - no more guessing.
Its not viewpoint it is that we are a small company so only a few users in the company use Vista. The field uses Raken which can be integrated with Vista - we just haven't gotten there to be compatible. Vista is ahead of the majority of construction Sofware programs. I know that Procore hasn't the lastest version but Vista does the same thing at a cheaper price.
Accounting: Once the invoice have been posted cost are calculate in the projections.
Project Operations - issue of PO - PO Service - Subcontractors - after issue show real time committed cost.
Change orders are track with and separate from contract items - to give the true picture.
Projections if kept up monthly are easy to submitted and tell the update picture of where the project will cost at the end of the project.
N/A - I have not had the opportunity to use the other programs Viewpoint has offered example Teams.

The real-time data and the ease of use. Cost are post once invoices have been approved.

Viewpoint Academy to review programs you haven't used in awhile ( this is really good for small business who have multiple task)

Using Viewpoint Vista

5 - 2 Accounting - payables - billing - receivables - payroll
3 Project Management - PO Change orders and projections - job cost -

In the past we did use the RFI and submittals - however it is easier to use a word doc template - I know it does track - easier to use the word doc over the program doc.
5 - All 5 - because we are very comfortable with the program. Still have a lot to learn - how to make adjustment in changing unit prices on PO - still have not learn how to import budget into vista - still enter manually.
  • Accounting forms
  • Projections - tracking cost
  • Issuing Purchase and Change Orders
  • Exporting forms
  • Integrate with Raken
  • Start using the other programs that Viewpoint offer
The person in charge who makes the business decision - is conformable with Vista - old school - doesn't like to change as long as he feels he is getting his value of what he is paying for.

Evaluating Viewpoint Vista and Competitors

Yes - We started with Viewpoint - switch to quickbooks - switch back to vista - procore keeps trying to get us to switch over however the owner prefers sticking with vista.
  • Price
  • Product Usability
  • Prior Experience with the Product
Price -in the decision maker view
Customer Service - in the key users choice
I didn't select - but I prefer staying with Vista. I like everything this programs has to offer

Viewpoint Vista Implementation

Viewpoint Vista Training

I was not part of the in person training. I am assuming the training went well - but I did all my training through viewpoint academy.
Some programs - super easy to follow - but others like the equipment training - took it a couple times and still not comfortable to be able to explain to others. Vista has may offering but if you're not conformable you won't use them. Then you're not getting the value of the system

Configuring Viewpoint Vista

Right for the product - however if it is not timely like filling out the submittal form - it easier and more time - people will use want is more efficiencent.
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
No - we have not done any custom code

Viewpoint Vista Support

The customer service gets back to you within a reasonable time. They ensure you are satisfied with the solution or advise different solutions or additional resources. They followed up with a knowledge base information sheet. The issues with the solutions are tracked so if you need to go and revisit the problem or share with someone in the office.
ProsCons
Quick Resolution
Good followup
Knowledgeable team
Problems get solved
Kept well informed
Immediate help available
Support understands my problem
Quick Initial Response
Escalation required
No - never heard of it - and why would I need premium support - when I get support items in a reasonable time. Small business do not have the extra cash flow to spend for premiums - if you buy a program, you should get customer support - if you don't there are several other software programs.
Yes - Pertaining to the bug I can't really speak to it - - I turned over to our IT team and they worked with Viewpoint to get it resolved. It did take a few days - but I have not had any major issue with Vista and I have been a customer for 10 years.
Yes and the person - Eve Roberts - she helped me get all our new employees set up for training on Viewpoint - sent me product information sheets - her patience was amazing - she worked with me for three days - until all the issue were handle. I prefer Vista over the other accounting software and not only for the programs but your customer service is great.

Using Viewpoint Vista

It does everything I need for my position - programs are similar so if you are new to the system, it is easy to catch on. Example batch process / interface the same - or when you have to change something - File add item etc...

Viewpoint Vista Reliability

For a small business - this program is well used in the accounting and operations. The two different work plans are set up for success. Alot of the programs we do not use - but like the reports that are generated - one disadvantage if you do not know crystal reports you cannot edit your form to meet your needs so there is a lot of printing different several forms to get all the information you need.
Only issue is when there is an upgrade - it takes several times to get back logged in. Otherwise no issues with getting on to the program. We are set up on lap top or on the remote desk top. Works 90% of the time.
No issue downloading the reports - I do find sometimes it is easier to export and save than it is to print to a pdf. Options on the different reports not consistent. You can print a couple projects on the JC Contract Status Report - but you have to do each project for the JC Cost by contract item - when neither one is a drill down - not a big deal.

Integrating Viewpoint Vista

  • Raken -
Management is not ready to integrate.
  • File import/export
The past controller used file import/export - no one current here knows how to use it - and the on-line training is not helpful - even tried the knowledge base - not clear - definitely not user friendly.
Write a training program for those at the novice level.

Upgrading Viewpoint Vista

  • Customer Portal
  • Applied more to the accounting department - not operations
  • Easier Use
  • Continue with the customer portal
  • Make knowledge base - written at novice level
