Overall Satisfaction with Watchguard Endpoint Security

We use Watchguard Endpoint as our go-to security solution on our corporate endpoints. This improves traditional antivirus, providing a solution with EPDR technology, DNS protection, and added features that can be expanded through subscriptions. This can be Managed from a powerful and intuitive cloud environment, avoiding local on-premise loads.EndPoint is a big step forward compared to a traditional antivirus solution, as it also provides graphs and reports that help detect weak points in our infrastructure and possible attack vectors.

Pros

  • Threat Detection.
  • Evaluation times for unknown executables in the cloud.
  • User-friendly and intuitive interface.
  • Resource consumption on the endpoint.
  • Simple and visual automatic reports.
  • Easy-to-access cloud platform without local resources.
  • Threat alert and ability to schedule automatic actions.
  • Possibility of remotely blocking equipment and taking automatic or manual actions.

Cons

  • EndPoint has an optional feature for automatic and remote software updates on endpoints, a handy option for keeping computers up-to-date and secure. However, it is not used to install new software but only to update it. We believe that this part is instrumental, but it is somewhat incomplete.
  • Another drawback is that some complementary functions to the antivirus, such as the one above, are optional and require a separate subscription.
  • The implementation of EndPoint requires some planning, especially the time required to harden and learn the system. This is not critical and is typical for this type of system, but it is necessary to plan it well.
  • EndPoint has allowed us to obtain a trusted security solution for the entire corporate endpoint. Functionally, it is another level compared to the traditional antivirus solution we had before. In this sense, the value of having the most protected systems possible in these times of continuous threats is incalculable. Ransomware or any other cyber threat puts the continuity of any company at risk, and you have to be as well-prepared as possible.
  • In our experience, Watchguard is a manufacturer that usually offers good value for money, and its solutions are usually very competitive compared to similar options from competitors. EndPoint is an example of this.
  • On the downside, Watchguard often offers a 3-year subscription and license renewals as a more competitively priced option. This reduces flexibility and means a significant financial outlay is made every three years when considering the longer term. For some companies, this can be a problem.
We implemented the Watchguard solution with a trusted local partner. The satisfaction rate was 100%. For confidentiality reasons, we cannot provide the name. The partner also offers support and attention beyond the manufacturer, which, in many cases, can be an exciting extra. In fact, we are working in this way.
We know and use Watchguard's Threat Sync solution. Our corporate firewall, Wi-Fi infrastructure, and endpoint security solution are currently from this manufacturer. We have also placed our trust in these systems because we understand that in the future, the integration of all of them will be possible, although today, a complete integration is still to come.
Overall we are very satisfied with Watchguard Cloud. Obviously there is room for improvement, but overall these are reliable solutions that are intuitive to use and provide the information needed for decision making.
The decision to start using Watchguard products was naturally not without its uncertainties, but we are very happy with the results.
The decision was based on three pillars:
- Watchguard's very competitive value-price ratio;—our good experience with Watchguard compared to other systems from the manufacturer implemented in our company;—having other Watchguard solutions and obtaining added value with Endpoint, such as ThreadSync.

Do you think Watchguard Endpoint Security delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Watchguard Endpoint Security's feature set?

Yes

Did Watchguard Endpoint Security live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Watchguard Endpoint Security go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Watchguard Endpoint Security again?

Yes

Redmine, GitLab, Zimbra Email & Collaboration
I think EndPoint is a great alternative suitable for any type or size of company. WatchGuard's price-performance ratio is usually very competitive, and the product is solid. It allows you to protect your endpoints with a next-generation antivirus solution. Since the platform is cloud-based, it requires internet access. Still, it is possible to establish a gateway through specific local agents for computers without internet access or in isolated networks.

Using Watchguard Endpoint Security

250 - The work environment is highly digitalized. The end users are very heterogeneous people with very different work roles who, in common, use the workstation extensively.
2 - We have a team dedicated to user support and system administration tasks. Two of them are involved in responding to alerts and reviewing Watchguard reports, although the entire team has the necessary knowledge to act and manage the solution.

Overall satisfaction with Endpoint and future possibilities for growing the solution with new functionality and integration with other Watchguard products.

Evaluating Watchguard Endpoint Security and Competitors

Yes - We replaced the standard Trend Micro Officescan antivirus product with Watchguard, gaining an advanced EDR in return. It's also worth noting that we had other Watchguard products in the organization, which complemented our security offering by allowing for full integration between all solutions.
  • Cloud Solutions
  • Scalability
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
  • Other
One of the main reasons was the fact that it's a cloud platform, but the positive experience with Watchguard in other types of products and solutions: firewall, Wi-Fi, and networking—was especially important. On the other hand, the cost-effectiveness factor was also a plus, as the manufacturer typically offers a good price-performance ratio.
Typically, the selection of such a critical product, especially one that is a fundamental foundation of the Center's cybersecurity, follows a standard change process. The market is studied, an initial selection of options is made, these solutions are evaluated individually, and finally, the decision is made through an assessment of the pros and cons, in which I try to involve the rest of the technical team. I believe the process was carried out correctly, and I wouldn't change anything about it.

Watchguard Endpoint Security Implementation

Implementation shouldn't present any problems in standard office environments. In environments with development teams, however, caution is needed. If zero trust is enabled, mechanisms must be in place to ensure that internal software isn't classified as a false positive (software certificate, exception folder, etc.)

Yes - Initially, we had a demo of the product in the evaluation phase. It was subsequently installed on a limited group of computers. This installation was left in hardening mode, and once it was mature, application blocking was configured.Once the success story was proven, it was rolled out to more groups of computers.
Not sure - My opinion is that the better a change is planned, the better it will turn out. If everything is planned correctly, any problems that arise are easily resolved because they have either been anticipated or mechanisms have been designed to minimize them.
  • False positives and blocked elements when activating zero trust. Especially in programming and software development environments.

Watchguard Endpoint Security Support

ProsCons
Good followup
Knowledgeable team
Kept well informed
Immediate help available
Quick Initial Response
Problems left unsolved
We maintained official support with the manufacturer Watchguard, but in addition, we contracted direct support with the Watchguard partner that sold us the solution. This is an option I recommend, as it's usually that partner who initially installs and configures the solution, knows the environment firsthand, and can provide a better and faster solution in the event of a disaster. Official Watchguard support is available for escalating specific or difficult cases.
Yes - We detected some bugs in some Watchguard products, not specifically in the EDR, but in others. All were fixed in subsequent versions or updates. However, the fix took time.
We've usually contacted Watchguard through the partner we hired, and the relationship with them has always been excellent. The cases escalated to Watchguard have always been handled correctly. They're professional, as they should be.
I consider Watchguard's support to be adequate.I'm not giving it an outstanding rating because it's difficult to get excellent support for any type of product these days. By that, I mean being able to open cases immediately, recognizing the problem immediately, and also offering support in a native Spanish language, for example. That's why, for some critical cases, having a partner involved can be a good idea.

  • Easy-to-access cloud-based web console, no installation or maintenance required
  • Intuitive layout, accessible menus
  • Graphics and colors organize complex data and allow for quick queries
  • In principle, the only complicated thing is to grasp the dynamics of copying the base configuration to the particular one and applying it to the group where appropriate.
  • Maybe the program tasks section, but it is simply taking the dynamics of use
Of all the security solutions and vendors I've used, Watchguard has provided the simplest and clearest interface.
