Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security

WatchGuard offers a relatively easy way to fend off threats and proxy and filter inbound and outbound traffic. Most functions and modules are self-explanatory with plenty of online resources available for reference. The live traffic view also gives you a real-time view of inbound and outbound traffic. The Total Security subscription, while spendy, is one of the most comprehensive security suites out there.

Pros

  • Proxying encrypted traffic
  • Packet filtering
  • DNS filtering
  • Endpoint protection

Cons

  • A catalog of explanations of common traffic monitor messages
  • An easier way to identify content from FireWatch
  • Consolidates potentially multiple security subscriptions into one
  • Single point of contact for tech support instead of multiple vendors
  • Easy-to-use support options
We worked with SecureTech to purchase and upgrade hardware and renew Total Security software licenses. They are competitive with pricing and efficient in working with us.
It's easier to use WatchGuard's unified threat management solution than to contract multiple security vendors who may or may not be compatible with one another. Time and cost savings go hand in hand with a vendor that offers a unified solution. I'd rather work with one provider rather than multiple.
The WatchGuard Cloud products work well together, on their own, or in a quasi-hybrid manner with on-premise devices. The constant updates to cloud-based modules work on their own with little or no manual management.
We have not used any other vendors.

WatchGuard appliances and network security are best suited for small and medium businesses that need a unified threat management solution that's easy to manage. Physically, the appliance can manage a few to several subnets and VLANs easily with built-in networking features. Failover is easy to configure, if you have multiple inbound connections. The software does cover almost anything a small business would need to secure the network and traffic.
