Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security
WatchGuard Network Security is our main firewall solution in our company that protect our network from all external threats, as well as keeps an eye on internal traffic. It also provides a cloud based EDR solution that helps isolate devices that have been infected, in order to stop threats from spreading.
- Safeguard internal network from external threats
- Provide a very good content filtering solution
- Excellent access control for all connected networks
- The explicit proxy implementation is not able to have assigned specific destinations, can't use more of them for the same source, custom NATing is not possible. This all has to do with the fact that this is not a single policy, but a pair of policies that work together. We can only see the first policy, that forwards traffic to the "Firebox" but we can't see the hidden policy that takes the traffic from there and sends it to its destination. This also means we can't manage the settings of the hidden policy.
- It would really be nice to be able to copy/paste IPs/FQDNs from inside existing policies, or even to be able to clone an entire existing policy.
- It would be a welcome change to be able to apply exceptions to application control rules.
- Having a reliable security solution helps minimize the time needed to spend daily on it in order to "keep an eye on things"
- VPN remote access for our remote workers has helped us out during the hard Covid times and was a great improvement over our previous solution
- Content filtering has really helped as keep the work environment clear of distractions.
We made the migration from our previous solution on our own, without any help from a partner.
We are really looking forward to the upcoming integration of DNSWatchGo to the WatchGuard Cloud Platform. This will really make things much easier to oversee. The migration from TDR to EDR also was a great step forward. Bringing all services together to a common platform will help make it easy to manage.
The unified dashboard really gives a clear overview of all that is going on and the things that need attention. There is no need to look a many places to see what needs immediate attention. We are really looking forward for the upcoming DNSWatchGo integration, that will complete the picture.
What we really liked in the WatchGuard Network Security was the fact that it offered an integrated proxy (explicit proxy), as at the time we wanted to replace the old proxy (Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway) we were using up to then. This was the main reason we opted for the WatchGuard Network Security solution.
