Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security
We use WatchGuard to provide perimeter security for our office network. Having a comprehensive advanced security solution in place allows us to have one place to manage our security and assist us in preventing/reducing spam, phishing, and Ransomware from entering our network. Our firewall is one of multiple layers that we trust to protect our organization and our data.
Pros
- Intrusion Protection.
- Monitoring of the traffic that is experienced on the specific interfaces (especially the WAN).
- Scheduling of upgrades of the firmware.
- Cloud Management of the Firewall.
Cons
- Integration with MSP Tools (HaloPESA).
- Integration into existing SIEM tools.
- WatchGuard is a well-established company in the industry, and we are confident in its security solutions.
- This solution meets/exceeds our security objectives for CMMC and the DoD standards.
- I wish their cloud management were much stronger and provided more features similar to those of Meraki. If it did, we would exclusively sell these devices.
We are a Watchguard partner.
This allows for easy management of the device, keeping it up to date. I still need to implement more of the features on the device, but this becomes a training and resources issue, especially for a smaller company like mine.
The Cloud management part of their solution is still immature, in my opinion. It has been out for a couple of years now, and features are slowly crossing over from the software management software to the cloud portal. I wish this had more features than it does, so we could totally migrate over to the cloud management portal for all managed devices.
I think the solutions are comparable, but the cloud management piece is critical for MSPs these days. We need to be able to schedule and push out updates as soon as they are stable and ready. Insurance companies and government regulations mandate this.
