Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Before using Xero, we had a very complicated accounting software, which was not only difficult to use, but also not visible across our company. Because we needed visibility into all accounting actives, we decided on Xero. Xero is a user friendly accounting software, which is accurate and, yes, fun to use.

Generates easy to read reports of A/P and A/R quickly and accurately
A few clicks and you can complete many accounting activities all at the same time
Interactive dashboard, which not only shows granular data, but also the overall financial health of the organization
Supportive customer service team, which is always on top of any concern, big or small
Complete training and online tutorials and help articles are available 24/7

Cons

Missing alerts as to when an account is due
Offer more intuitive UI, which understands a bill cycle and can alert when nessesary
Offer financial and business investment coaching
More top level tabs, which can be customized by clients for the things they want to see all the time

Return on Investment

Huge increase in understanding investments and the impact of each singularly and also as a whole
A higher level of visibilty into the accounting department and how each dollar is being spent
Changing perceptions on the button line and total investments throughout the fiscal year

Alternatives Considered

I adore easy to use software, which delivers a lot of visibility and results. All the tools and applications I have used are comparable to Xero in the fact that it is easy, accessible, and visible.

Likelihood to Renew

Renewal really comes down to bottom line. If we saw an increase in attending to the company's accounting needs while increasing profits, then we would renew. So in our first year of using Xero, we saw this because of the ability to critically analyze investments. This helped us make the decision to renew.

Likelihood to Recommend

Xero is incredibly well suited for small to mid sized businesses, but can also take on the challenges of total visibility within any sized organization. It may not be well suited for companies looking to switch to a new software and learning the ins and outs of it over night. Asking, "what is my adoption period and what does my timeline look like?" will give you a better idea on how to facilitate the appropriate resources. It does take some training, but once you get it, it is the easiest accounting software you'll ever use!
