Overall Satisfaction with Zenefits

We are a small 8-team member business. We did our own payroll for years but finally decided that dealing with forever changing governmental regulation was no longer feasible nor with our time. We began to use Zenefits in the fall of 2020 and despite a rocky start, we forged on and turned payroll over to them completely.
  • Zenefits is costing us hundreds of dollars (at a minimum) each month because they can't calculate payroll correctly and you can't reach them to correct it.
  • We have to manually calculate taxes and prepare tax forms.
ADP is more expensive but Zenefits will create a huge net loss to us in the end.

They can't get payroll numbers correct, nor can you get ahold of them to fix these issues. Emails go without reply and they have no phone support at all. Repeated attempts at contact go without a response, and, as they ACH all payroll numbers, you must put a stop payment on each transaction each month creating a HUGE mess.

    We had a similar experience. Our non profit used them for a little over a year. Zenefits did not update the system for the new Employee Retention Credit rules passed at the end of 2020 and into 2021. So we decided to change providers. They ignored all requests to stop running payrolls or filing federal and state tax returns as our agent. After numerous requests for contact with a human to discuss we would get an email that did not solve the problem and then a request to renew our service. From my experience are beyond incompetent .
