Considered Multiple Products
AlgoSec
Chose AlgoSec
Algosec has multi vendor support including cisco aci, nsx, aws and azure security groups. While most other vendors are lacking in the spectrum of the vendors. The ROI is best on this product.
Chose AlgoSec
Algosec is user-friendly and easy to implement and manage. The best part is it can be installed on-premises as well as on the cloud. It visualizes the complex networks and creates a dynamic network topology map. Using Firewall Analyzer, security and operations teams can …
FireMon
Chose FireMon
Technically speaking FireMon Security Manager scored higher than the AlgoSec Firewall Analyzer. It is also less expensive than other solutions.
Chose FireMon
I already had experience with the Tufin and AlgoSec products, and the customization that FireMon provides is just not available with the other products. The licensing of FireMon over AlgoSec is another winner for us.
Chose FireMon
We performed a head-to-head PoC between FireMon and AlgoSec several years ago. Both platforms were well developed, but FireMon had the upper hand in three areas:
  1. Its UI was more unified and intuitive across the different components and products
  2. The reporting was better suited …
Chose FireMon
AlgoSec and Tufin both have initial issues during the POC stage, and FireMon even though with the changes they have made still works better and is more user friendly.
Chose FireMon
AlgoSec is a great tool, lower in cost as well.

FireMon has alot of capabilites, but our organization is not ready or have a use case yet for those features.
Chose FireMon
I has worked with AlgoSec and while they are very similar product, I find the FireMon is easier to understand and get rolling with. While both require some learning, FireMon is by far the easier one. Once you have an understanding of how things are arranged and labeled you can …
Chose FireMon
To be blunt, at the time of purchase most of these products appeared to do the same things in the same ways. What really brought us to the table with FireMon six years ago was their willingness to earn our business, and to this day they remain just as committed to keeping our …
Chose FireMon
AlgoSec and Tufin both are good tools but the cost involved for what they offer as services led us to go with Firemon.
Chose FireMon
FireMon has the most supported devices.
The UI is easy to use and intuitive.
There is a comprehensive list of built in compliance controls that are missing in the competition.
Chose FireMon
We were impressed with FireMon's native cloud support and compliance reporting, in looking at other vendors we were not too impressed by their ability to support cloud-native technologies and their reporting was less than stellar. We did not want a solution that would last only …
Chose FireMon
For our use case, only FireMon met our needs with the systems we use.
Chose FireMon
In QRadar we can only get the logs information and vulnerabilities but we can't get the detailed reports. In FireMon we get the detailed reports with the description of the problem and the solution.

FireMon
FireMon is best used in a large environment (for example, I have >100
firewalls in my environment). It's best used when trying to improve
security posture and showing changes in firewall security over time. It
might not be the best choice for smaller environments or those that aren't concerned about security management.

IBM
I would only recommend IBM Security QRadar SIEM in a few situations. For one, it's very easy to setup and use if all your log sources are generic from known vendors. It's also significantly cheaper than Splunk, which is nice if you're trying to save money or be more efficient. I would not recommend IBM Security QRadar SIEM for environments with a lot of custom logs and complicated detection requirements.

Cons
AlgoSec
  • AlgoSec need to work on their support in India.
  • Insufficient documentation.
  • It should support other platforms like GCP, Alibaba, etc.

FireMon
  • Some features could be added to the existing functionality which include NAT rules usage
  • Rule expiration normalization from firewalls rather than entering them in rule documentation
  • .csv exports of the files from the firewall pane only gives usage for 30 days by default and that should be increased

IBM
  • Need to spend more time configuring the system to properly interpret and normalize different type of data collected from multiple resources.
  • While Rule creation QRadar uses that rules to detect security threats and generate alerts, but to creating and managing rules is bit complex & tedious work to complete.
  • IBM Security QRadar SIEM is excellent in handling large & complex systems that requires in-depth knowledge and extensive training to configure and maintain the system which includes upgrading, optimization of performance & issue troubleshooting.

FireMon
The shell is locked out and we can't run any general centos commands. The implementation and maintainence of the arch is very complex. Even with the right identifiers on log messages the log collection keeps failing. The warning messages on the device are ambiguous. The log messages on firemon are a bit confusing and don't show the exact issue.

QRadar is an established and stable product, we have been using it for many years and want to continue to focus on it. Anyone who has used the product and knows it knows how reliable it is and how it facilitates continuous monitoring of threats from outside and inside. it is an exceptional product that is very useful for us.

As a grade I give 8 as QRadar is not easy to learn. It requires some time to master it. It also needs a team of people actively working on the product. Once you learn to use it the software works very well and it is easy to correlate and understand detected threats. It only takes time to learn how to use it well and configure it properly.

FireMon
FireMon has been relatively stable overall. However, there have been a handful of times where we had issues with the console. For example, we couldn't update which devices to include in a security assessment. The initial suggestion from support was to just reboot it. It seems like there weren't many other options available such as to restart services before going to the extreme of a complete reboot.

I'm not sure we have the largest implementation of FireMon out there but we do have a few 1000 devices being probed by FireMon. Overall, the system's performance has been rock solid. The console refreshes quickly and reports are generated within an expected timeframe.

IBM Qradar takes the best from its competitors. Reliable and stable but sometimes very expensive, the SIEM from IBM offers a wide range of scenarios in which the customers can suite and size their own infrastructures. IBM Qradar doesn't really needs to stack up againt its competitors because it already sets an example in the SIEM world.
