Flurry Analytics

I would encourage a colleague to use Flurry Analytics. Incorporating Flurry Analytics in an app is a simple and straightforward task, and will take the average app developer less than 15 minutes to understand and apply. This amount of time is nothing in the grand scheme of the development of the app, and the return on time invested to incorporate it is great. New tracking features can be added at any time.

Pros

  • Apptopia not only allows you to see what technologies are being used in an app, but also when an technology is removed, inactive or installed.
  • You can create alerts to help you stay on top of changes in the market, SDK, revenue, user base and more.
  • The benefits of working with an SMB company is you get their full attention at any point in the customer lifecycle. Early on to our usage of Apptopia we had the Chief Product Officer getting on calls and video shares with us to hear our feedback, ask for suggestions and to showcase new/upcoming features. They have excellent customer support and are constantly updating and adding to their already amazing product.
  • The employees that work there are very receptive and helpful as well. I was reviewing another tool for my company to use and noticed one of their managers had left a review about the given tool. I personally reached out to her asking for her opinion and feedback before buying and she responded within a day.

  • The biggest problem that we have with Flurry is the flexibility to look at multiple app metrics simultaneously- as in a roll-up type report. We have 100+ apps; iOS and Android, phone and tablet, that are all broken out individually. We frequently would like to look at our apps as a whole, or the same app across all platforms, or all of out iOS apps, etc. Currently, we have to pull individual reports and aggregate them by hand ourselves.
  • Perhaps it might be the 100+ apps that we have tracking in Flurry, but Flurry can run slowly at times.

The cost of the product and lack of a competitor that can deliver exactly what we're looking for an app measurement, leads us to be more than likely to renew our use of Flurry. It isn't the most efficient for our particular uses, but the top end app analytic tools out there are far too expensive for us.

Alternatives Considered

Overall it stacked up poorly against other competitors. The inaccurate info, limited coverage on apps and slow UI made it an unpleasant experience. I do not recommend using this program and think there are better solutions out there. The customer support also was not great

For my uses, Flurry is free which makes it way more attractive than the other platforms even on a very big number of monthly events.It also have set reports which are exactly the reports that a marketing person needs without any need of spending a developer time to create them for you, or holding an in-house BI person that works on creating reports.

Return on Investment

  • Overall was poor ROI. It was not cheap and did not bring much value.
  • Reports seemed to be good at first but later found lots of inaccuracies
  • Could not find information on premium publishers

  • Exposed revenue opportunity ( helped establish a link between target demographic Anne their preference for a particular type of EMC PRODUCT)
  • Reduced churn rate ( given easy way to set up conversion funnels)
