Endpoint Security
Comparison of Endpoint Security features of Product A and Product B
This product is well suited for any healthcare organization, especially one privately owned by the providers. Many of our providers were displeased with our efforts to use a product that forced sandboxing of Exchange information. Therefore, we needed something that was flexible enough that sandboxing could be used where desired but still allowed native OS integration where necessary.
If the environment is predominantly Apple based then Jamf Protect is a strong solution for providing EDR capabilities to endpoints. The detection capabilities are up to par with other leading EDR tools and it integrates well with Jamf MDM. Additionally, the compliance, telemetry, log forwarding, and USB device management being included as part of Jamf Protect provide good ROI.
The experience using SOTI MobiControl has been excellent as a user. My notebook and smartphone devices have the security policy applied and it works perfectly. I have all the apps I need to work installed, up to date and with no issues. All devices are tracked by the software and are safe in case of theft, and the information contained in the devices is erased remotely. Each group/user has their permissions specified according to what they need and that makes things even more secure. I recommend SOTI MobiControl for its ease of use and security and for not slowing down my devices.
Low resource use Protected Agent - stops tampering with agent and is not a resource hog
Managed and custom Analytics - along with the out of the box Analytics provided by JAMF, admins can also set up their own to focus on areas of concern eg NISTcompliance items
Vendor support - support is very responsive and knowledgeable
issues with non apple, non samsung devices: if it is not setup with an apple or samsung phone, then the Certificate onboarding is a struggle/unable to be done.
user-pin setup: for a user to be onboarded, requiring a PIN; there is a self service way but it is clunky and users prefer to call in instead of trying to follow the 15 step process via PDF
if the certificate is ever lost, due to an upgrade via IOS or android, then the entire process [uninstall, reinstall] has to be done, which means downtime for the end user, and higher call volume when a service provider pushes an iOS update.
The software's usability is what we expected. We knew what our organization needed and Citrix was able to meet our needs. The ability to have the apps on a mobile device has been a great plus and Citrix seems to have really developed a software based on the every day needs of the user.
Jamf Protect is easy to manage. It is a separate interface from Jamf MDM which is nice for Security Operations teams. It allows Security teams to manage only the Security aspects without having to dig through all of the MDM configurations. For exception uses cases, Jamf Protect does provide options to customize settings where needed.
I support other users with the help of this tool. I really like the remote support functionality. You can make screenshots or even capture videos. If you face network problems, the tool doesn't help at all. It might be helpful, if they would develop a kind of offline support mechanism. So that there is some kind of logging even when there is no network and we can check the logs afterwards (or do video capture while being offline, etc.).
Overall the support from the customer service team has been good. They are very timely and expert in resolving the tickets. They have appropriate knowledge to resolve issues in all stages to development. They were up to the point during the implementation stage of the XenMobile, all queries were answered in time to help finish the deployment. The support for last three years has been extraordinary in helping us use XenMobile effectively and efficiently.
We had a feature request. They accepted the request, but couldn't tell us whether the feature will be developed or when. I think this is not helpful for us as a customer. We do not always ask the SOTI MobiControl for help but other consultants. I think that is quite expensive.
With a zero trust solution for the entire digital workspace, you can continually monitor and assess session activities before, during, and after login. Reduce risk, gain more control over every session, and get deeper insights across your entire application landscape. To achieve this strong security posture across all environments, you need an application delivery solution that shares a common code base. This lets you implement consistent security policies across all your applications for comprehensive protection.
In some aspects, Jamf Protect was far superior to the others mentioned above. The only downside I can see is that it is only macOS which could be a problem for hybrid environments.
MobiXontrol allows more access to different types of devices. I also appreciate the ability to separate out the devices by type to make searching easier. The real-time access to what the user is seeing is much better with MobiControl.
Specific ROI was on us avoiding purchasing company managed cell phones - one of the most important drivers
Makes on boarding, and especially offboarding remote users a heck of a lot easier w/the ability to wipe the container, even if not connected (via time setting)
Easy access to internal resources - no need for separate vpn, etc...
