Discourse vs. Samepage

[Discourse is by] far the best online forum platform in the industry. It may be a little pricey for people looking for a cheap option for their hobby forum, but for any type of business that relies on a forum, the pricing is more than fair.

Samepage is well suited to situations: - when there is a need for ongoing collaboration between people - when these people lack tech skills - when there is a need for sharing and showing different kinds of media Samepage is less appropriate in situations (since there are better tools for those particular uses): - requiring more robust communication tools - when the objective is to execute a specific, finite task - when it is necessary a precise control of version history

• User Privileges : Teams, Trust Levels, Moderation, Private and Public Threads make it possible to have as much transparency, privacy or power decentralization as one wishes.
• Gamification: Badges and Achievements can be customized for User Activity and frequent readers and writers.
• Mailing List mode: Users can choose to use forum threads without the User Interface by subscribing via mailing list mode.

• All communication is literally on one page, so you don't have to learn its navigation. Cuts the learning curve.
• User interface is very simple. WYSIWYG.
• The mobile app works well and I like how it syncs with the desktop version.
• Just discovered the Dropbox sync. Very cool. Works way better than Dropbox at sharing files!

• Some configuration UIs are difficult to follow
• Not well-suited for managing workflows (grant management as an example)
• Bulk operations across multiple threads either impossible or difficult to figure out

• Document types could have symbolic representations.
• Exporting process could be shorter - Just with an upward arrow button.
• Task chat can also have a save option to take notes of important messages.

Vanilla's mobile functionality was downright awful and it felt like it was stuck in the 2000s. While they have similar features, Discourse blows them away in almost every department. We don't regret switching at all.

I have used many project management and collaboration tools and everyone has its kicks and fall backs. But for the kind of collaboration we require with our external parties right now, we really enjoy collaborating on Samepage. With Sharepoint, we were always running into access issues with our external vendors and it was a hassle to adjust those user settings. However since we started with Samepage, both our team members and external party vendor have been happily collaborating.

• Community Members are eager to jump into the discussion.
• Conversations can be tracked easier without the risk of being lost in a sea of messages as people tend to construct their posts more carefully than on any workspace messenger.
• It's open source and configurable with many other add-ons to help integration with other services.

• It definitely has a positive return on investment. We were looking for someone who can help with these.
• It can be used very well for project management, task management, mass communication, and secured documentation.
