Likelihood to Recommend Mailbutler is well suited to people who predominantly use their Mac for email. It adds a rich feature set to macOS Mail's native features. Mailbutler is less useful to people who frequently process email on iOS/iPadOS. Only a limited subset of Mailbutler's functionality is available on iOS/iPadOS as Apple doesn't currently provide a way for third parties to extend the iOS/iPadOS Mail app.

No need to have multiple Chrome windows open for different accounts, it's all in one place. Manage each of their apps in each siloed workspace. I was tired of flipping back and forth between Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, and more. Shift solved that issue.

Helps me stay focused. Makes logging into multiple applications easy. Read full review Cons Mailbutler occasionally conflicts with other macOS Mail plug-ins. Though, in most (if not all) cases the issue tends to be with other plugins. The Mail app for iOS/iPadOS doesn't support plugins, making it necessary to use Mailbutler's own app to access a limited subset of the functionality on macOS/iPadOS. Read full review Every once in awhile it can be a bit slow. Once in a while if I am using Shift on my monitor screen and I close my laptop, next time I use my laptop with no monitor I can't get Shift to come up again. I can only get the window back when I plug back into my monitor. Super annoying for something that I pay for. It doesn't always keep you logged in to each platform you have installed. I suppose this keeps things secure - but I wish it just stayed log in to everything. Read full review Alternatives Considered I'm not aware of any other products that provide the same functionality within the macOS Mail client. There are some third-party email apps for macOS and iOS/iPadOS that have some of Mailbutler's features, but my preference is to stay with Apple's Mail client, partially for security reasons.
Read full review I wouldn't say I liked the user experience and the difficulty in configuration. I generally like to keep my UX and UI as consistent as possible, and Shift does that. Moreover, I wanted to save all my Gmail labels and have their catalog precisely as on the Gmail website.
Thunderbird for Mac is a bit tacky.
