If a user is struggling, I find it easy to connect to them using ManageEngine Endpoint Central. Both the users' and their machines are easily traced so we can assist them, within the UI. On occasions where there is no clear solution, ManageEngine Endpoint Central chat feature is always there to provide a solution.
I've been using this product since it began as an open source product, I really like it and for the money, I think it's probably the best choice for most companies who need a product like this. Over the years I've seen the interface change quite a bit and sometimes I think it's a bit unclear how to do certain things and the different packages can be confusing, these are the only reasons I'm giving it a 9 instead of a 10.
product support - the technicians at ManageEngine Endpoint Central are very knowledgeable when it comes to the system- I have never had an issue not fixed promptly by them
The OS deployment tool saves us a significant amount of time and man hours in deploying machines- from manual setups taking 1-2 hours to complete per device, to 6 minutes each, is all the proof you need
Being able to remotely and silently install packages of software e.g Foxit PDF viewer, means we can instantly give hundreds or even thousands of machines a piece of software that before using EC, would have taken weeks to do, even with multiple technicians
The tables for the query reports could be catalogued online so we can more easily write out own query reports, without needing to contact support.
Linux and MacOS application patching needs improvement.
The API needs some more data we can retrieve, e.g. allow us to query all Custom Groups, which devices are in the groups, and which patching policies apply to those groups
The patching could use a calendar-style view, showing which devices or groups are due to patch on which days
Expensive - You do pay a slight premium for the best product in the space.
Asset management is difficult to work with if you have a lot of asset turnover, the license can be ''held'' for 3-6 months after the asset is gone from your environment.
ManageEngine is considered an excellent product due to its comprehensive suite of solutions for IT management, with ManageEngine Endpoint Central specifically excelling in endpoint management. The platform stands out for its user-friendly interface, robust features, and versatility in addressing diverse IT needs. As ManageEngine Endpoint Central control provides management capabilities for various device types, simplifying IT administration in diverse environments, And managing a large number of devices across multiple locations, providing a single pane of glass for IT administrators. The local distributor of the product is always available, however most support is received within an hour from India. We've had complex requirements and the support team went so far as to customize their mobile application to suit our unique needs. We honestly can't complain about any support we've received and it's always been very quick.
Support is usually really great at walking you through any steps you need to take when you get stuck on something. There are a few false positives and errors that have come up over the years that required their help to get through. Unfortunately, the steps required to diagnose some problems are more tedious than I think should be necessary. (IE: SQL instances can throw errors that clog up your logs because one plugin affects it in a certain way. The process to diagnose this is to watch timestamps of plugins in a log while monitoring the SQL logs at the same time and using your best guess as to what is causing it.)
In my organization I used Atera previously, which is similar to ManageEngine Endpoint Central but Atera is a cloud-based IT management tool ideal for small IT teams where ManageEngine Endpoint Central can provide more users control and has better features. Mainly ManageEngine Endpoint Central is better for enterprise level.
Tenable.io has a comparable set of features, with excellent support and a competitive price. After less than desirable experiences with another company, we moved to Tenable and haven't looked back since.
Our security posture is easy to see and act upon as you have a single place to look at all machines vulnerabilities. This helps us when it comes to security audits as we are able to demonstrate the value of the application.
Remote support is inbuilt and easy to use as you can just hop onto any agented machine and control it directly without asking for codes or getting people to visit a specific website.
We were able to mass install various applications to client machines over the years and the time and cost saved by not having to visit remote machines in different countries has proved invaluable.
Since this is a requirement for our PCI compliance and the cost is relatively low, the ROI isn't really something we need to think too much about, Tenable's pricing is fair and affordable.
