I will begin by saying that I "inherited" SiteScope". So, it really was not my choice as to whether or not I was going to use it. Also, we were so heavily ingrained in SiteScope, that it would have taken a HUGE overhaul of our monitoring system to switch to something else.
In our organization we haven't directly used many alternatives but we have evaluated Splunk AppDynamics and Dynatrace . From what i have seen Dynatrace for is for its strong automation and AI based issue detection , especially arround root cause analysis.
At that time, AppDynamics was performing well and securely in the enterprise environment and was well adapted to all monitoring and observability features, so AppD was chosen over Datadog. Now the organization has started using Datadog for a few applications.

Splunk AppDynamics is great product that has positively maintained solid application workflows. It has simple and clean UI that displays graphical representation of our database and application behaviour. It gives us an opportunity to customize and set most reliable alerts and data configurations that aligns with our policies. It is easy to monitor operation hypothesis and lower RCA if you identify application coding errors.
It has a good GUI to monitor real-time logs for cloud applications. This is quite a useful tool and preferred over most of the competitive applications in the market.

The support is pretty good however some of the KB articles still reference different versions of the product so it can be hard to find answers to common questions

Not like others you may have sampled (i.e. SolarWinds). The plus is that you monitor exactly what you want with no plethora of other junk you may not want. The "negative" is that you must set up all the monitors. I know I did mention the templates and copy/paste features, although it can be streamlined, it is still a manual process for each server. SiteScope is all a very manual process while others crawl your network and discover stuff.
