SAP Jam vs. Socialtext (discontinued) vs. Starmind

When you need to create a private, secure space for individuals to collaborate or work on a project together, SAP Jam does a great job at bringing people together and giving them a space to work together in. There are also great ways to provide learning opportunities (including sharing webinars or other educational content)

We use Social Text as a platform to air our issues with different departments. We voice our concerns and suggestions so we can help find a solution to the problems we incur on a daily basis. We need to have social text as an app so we can communicate in real time not only during work hours.

Shared knowledge is essential to widely distribute knowledge among the various sectors of the company. Knowledge is power and we have discovered this with Starmind, where we are all capable of solving different problems without the need to work in a certain sector or not.

• Search needs a ton of improvements. It was very slow a year ago
• Search result quality was also not that good
• I know they have improved their UI recently but when i used it last year it did not really have any design elements which could be used to make the articles look more presentable. It was important for us as we used it for external communication as well.

• I'm still not familiar with its interface in a comfortable way. It seems to me that there are functions whose potential can be exploited more but they are not visual, instead there are many others that can get in the way a little in the daily use of the platform.

We have a lot of info in Socialtext already. It would be hard to get all that info out and port it to a different system

It's an integrated platform that brings together a lot of different people from across the association to work on shared projects, etc. Given the various roles people play and the varying skill sets they bring to the table, the platform is fairly intuitive to use and easy to navigate around

We have to submit requests multiple times to get a response and it often feels like they go into a black hole. Because we don't have anyone in house really supporting the back-end of the platform, we rely on SAP Jam's support and development teams to help solve problems and improve the platform for us.

We utilize many products in the SAP universe of solutions. Not only was JAM feature-rich and matched our company needs, but the tight integration with our other SAP product lines makes admin as well as usability seamless. While other competitors to JAM offer more features that rely on real-time, most of our use cases were asynchronous.

I frankly like Confluence better than socialtext because of the speed and the quality of search. They also have better design elements which can help make the articles pleasant to the eyes.

Bloomfire is an excellent tool, it provides multiple similar features, these platforms being intelligent in the search for shared knowledge, however, Starmind seems to me to have better search options and interaction actions between users.

• The effective search for the right person to attend specific commercial projects has allowed us to hit the target, since we are exploiting the potential of each of the company's personnel regardless of the department to which they belong, we diversify, learn and adapt to changes, in favor of always achieving the proposed objectives and achieving better performance and work efficiency.
