Shopify
Shopify is great for someone looking to become an affiliate marketer. They have multiple features to help you sell their product. I would say it is a little less appropriate for people who have limited web design experience. It can be a little confusing when you are first starting out. Overall though, I would say that it is easy to use.

At least in retail, I would only recommend using Weblinc for merchandising and uploading products.

Pros
Shopify
- Ease of Use - Very user friendly. Anyone can pick it up within a couple days and know how to do almost everything.
- Great Customer Service - The help is excellent. Also, they have a huge community where people are happy to help.
- Ton of Add-Ons - You can find a ton of add-ons and modules to use that can be installed by you. They don't require developers.
- Inexpensive - Because it's easy to use and doesn't require a ton of developer time, it's so much cheaper to run.

Cons
Shopify
- Site/Store customization is difficult - it's page templates are based on an XML-like markup that you have to learn to do any page design edits
- There is a store/library of premium site themes to purchase, but the offerings are limited when compared to the comparable ocean of themes for something like WordPress
- Since custom development for Shopify is less popular - it's difficult to find help if have customization q's or get stuck. There isn't a very active Shopify dev community

- We were never able to delete categories/subcategories. And because of this inability, it was often difficult navigating the back-end. If we accidentally deleted a category/subcategory, it would create a problem on the front end.
- Creating discount codes was a nightmare. It was easy enough to create, but the text/description area was so sensitive and often had a mind of its own. This sensitivity created problems on the front end as well, ranging from incomplete text showing up to the products tiling all in one row. Also, there wasn't an easy way to create a "complex" discount code (complex defined as any code that wasn't a % off)
- In general, it was very buggy. We were constantly opening tickets.

Nothing we have used in the past or have seen thus far even comes close to offering what we get with Shopify Plus, especially for the price. You cannot even come close to getting what we are getting at the price we pay. We are beyond thrilled and Shopify Plus meets and exceeds all of our needs and expectations. We love it!

I think most people are able to suer Shopify that have used a computer. There are some features that take a bit longer to learn. If you are not a creative person it may be a bit more difficult to learn the website customization, but with a help guide or tutorial it will only take a few tries to understand how to work the interface

Alternatives Considered
Shopify
Shopify was the easiest to use for my client on the backend, which was a major incentive for them over the other platforms. It had all the features they needed, and ultimately they were able to manage everything in-house without needing to bring in a major developer or sacrificing features

Shopify
- I do not have the hard numbers but I do know for the most part our artists have used the free shop templates which has really helped their ROI
- Having free and paid options for the stores has been helpful for our ROI, while many of our smaller artists are using the free templates, the ones who are doing well enough to use a paid store templates are loving them and the additional traffic they bring to their pages
- The biggest negative for us was trying to use Shopify for POS merchandise. If we ran into any issues with the card readers we either had to stop selling all together or just sell cash only, both of which drastically hurt sales
