Overall Satisfaction with Shopify

We use Shopify as our ecommerce store. The reason we switched was Shopify's ability to handle the syncing of our customers and companies properly. It also was able to sync the attribute fields in Acumatica without any third-party tools or customizations. Shopify allowed us to more easily handle b2b customers alongside individual customers.

Pros

  • Customer and Company syncing
  • The ability to sync almost any field from Acumatica
  • Price catalogs for different customers

Cons

  • The cost can be a factor
  • Add-on apps are needed
  • certain fields wont sync when making them blank in Acumatica
  • Since using Shopify we noticed an increase in web sales of 20%
  • The ability to properly list and tag our items has made our site easier to navigate and items easier to find. Which has driven up web sales.
  • The ability to customize most of what we need in Shopify ourselves has saved us a lot of third party vendor fees.
There is the need to use add-on apps to be able to do everything you need to do. This drives up the cost and if you don't have an internal web team it would make it more difficult to setup and customize which would drive up cost even more since a third party would be needed to help with the add-on integration and implementation.
Shopify out of the box had more features and did what we were looking to do that BigCommerce could not do without extensive customizations using a third-party vendor. That made it a very easy choice to switch to Shopify. Most of the customizations needed in Shopify we were able to do ourselves.

Shopify allowed us to handle matrix items and combined listings. Both of which we could not do on our previous platform. There was some customization involved but overall, it did what we needed it to. The one downside was that if we want to change anything we would have to reload the entire set of matrix items manually.
