Uptempo (Formerly BrandMaker, Allocadia, Hive9)
Although the Analytics part is already available it could be improved. So for now Allocadia is very recommended if you are looking for a data maintenance software but less appropriate as a analysis tool. Ask yourself what is it you are looking for (analysis or controlling) and for which purposes (management level or specialists). The costs are very resonable and an absolute Plus!

Xinet is great for print marketing users that have a lot of copy in their artwork. Xinet is not especially useful for 3D artwork production.

Pros
Uptempo (Formerly BrandMaker, Allocadia, Hive9)
  • The user interface is clean, well-thought out, and easy for marketers to use. It behaves like their spreadsheets in all the right ways...without the baggage of having budgets locked into separate spreadsheets.
  • Allocadia knows that revenue attribution is important, and has great out-of-the-box adapters to flow actual spend and actual performance in to the tool.
  • The reporting engine is both substance and style. Data is accurate, can be sliced-and-diced, and is easy for marketers to get what they want in an ad hoc fashion, if a canned report does not already exist. The visuals are also excellent, which promotes the use of analysis.

  • Tracking rights-managed assets. Xinet provides advanced features such as watermarking and expiration notifications.
  • Integration with Adobe. Xinet can be configured to access assets from right within the apps.
  • Desktop integration. Xinet can be accessed by the browser but also as a mountable server volume on the desktop. Unlike Box, Dropbox, etc., the mounted volume does not require consumption of hard drive space.

Cons
Uptempo (Formerly BrandMaker, Allocadia, Hive9)
  • Integrate the marketing department closer to the other companies departments output.
  • Connect to more markets for customer acquisition and care as well as customer satisfaction and experience enhancements.
  • We think it can get even closer to SAP Marketing Cloud at less investments and more ROI.

  • For my position, I didn't learn enough of Xinet to truly utilize the whole program, only one or two people in my department understood it inside and out.
  • During my time at the agency, we were unable to get the annotations to work on assets. And that would have been helpful to have to streamline our process of asset quality control.

I am hesitant to comment on renewal in detail because we haven't been using the system for very long. But I am encouraged by the speed and ease of implementation, and look forward to getting to know the system better.

Usability
Uptempo (Formerly BrandMaker, Allocadia, Hive9)
Easy to use and allows you to track just about anything that's important to your business

Xinet is intuitive to use. It is perhaps the only DAM that features a traditional mounted volume, so anyone working in an environment with local servers will love it. Search is accurate and faceted searches allow users to narrow search results. Setup requires a lot of training if you want to leverage all of its complex workflow capabilities.

Support is handled by third-party server integrators. Our partner, NAPC, has always been there when we've needed them and also develops unique plugins to expand XInet's capabilities.

Alternatives Considered
Uptempo (Formerly BrandMaker, Allocadia, Hive9)
We have just used Bynder for some time but when we compared its performance with Uptempo we instantly knew it was superior in most of the aspects. It had better data analysis accurate reports and helped us track and manage our budget, so overall we were really happy with Uptempo.

We selected Xinet based on having a large number of potential users and wanted unlimited web seats. Paying a one time software fee versus a monthly seat payment was a big draw. Telescope was four to five times more expensive and was not feasible at the time. We liked Basecamp but we needed a local solution for storage, not hosted.

Xinet is a great platform to build off of. We use it in combination with Enfocus Switch which has greatly improved the automation capabilities and we use Xinet as the portal for external users. Our internal users very rarely interact with the Xinet GUI.

Return on Investment
Uptempo (Formerly BrandMaker, Allocadia, Hive9)
  • We have been able to more effectively look at our buys and see how they are performing on an ROI basis. Previously our spend data and leads were in two different places but this has allowed us to combine them.
  • We have only been in the software for five months so I think we will continue to see the ROI impact as we build out reports. Right now we're still trying to find the reports that will help us the most in our optimization.
