Abnormal Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for real time AI email security for our Office 365 environment. It stops real time phishing attempts and locks the individual accounts that get compromised. It has added a layer of protection to our security posture on top of our microsoft filter allowing us to feel more confident in how we are securing our email.

Pros

  • It relied on AI to dynamically look at attacks instead of blocklists
  • Not only looks at phishing threats but also looks at social engineering
  • it has account takover protection which is key for us

Cons

  • There pricing could be more competitive
  • Reporting is lacking and needs to be more robust
  • a decent about a false positives but getting better

Return on Investment

  • It surely has helped us not get in the weeds when somebody fell for phishing
  • It has been well worth the money to have the extra layer of protection

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Abnormal Security in 2 areas; 1) filtering spam and malicious emails, preventing the messages from entering the users' mailbox, and 2) automated response for reported suspicious emails.

Pros

  • Spam filtering...we have been able to turn our spam sensitivity down on Exchange allowing more legitimate messages through to user inboxes.
  • Malicious email filtering...we experienced several successful phishing attacks over the past year. Abnormal Security has prevented hundreds of individual campaigns since going live in August '22. I cannot thank them enough!
  • Automated response for reported emails...my team is small and we do not have enough hours in a day to review and respond to each reported email. Abnormal Security performs additional analysis on those reports and automatically responds for us. If the message is spam or malicious, copies of those emails are looked for throughout the server and deleted.

Cons

  • None so far, I have been extremely happy with their service.

Return on Investment

  • Preventing compromises that have historically led to payroll or accounts payable threats.
