In March of 2020, we were forced into moving our staff remote while simultaneously moving the majority of our client base remote. Actually functioning securely was never an issue, this infrastructure was in place for a long time prior. The issue was productivity combined with availability. Some positions lend themselves well to working 'any time' and for these people there was occasionally doubts as to whether they were doing the amount of work that was expected as there was often discrepancies with team members. Activetrak was able to keep everyone honest in this situation and as long as the metrics looked ok we were able to save a lot of time that previously had been wasted digging through logs verifying suspect information. For support workers who need to be available to take calls we noticed an imbalance of calls going to certain users and upon investigating found some people were just not at their station when they said they were - implementing activetrak provided us summary reports that saved a lot of digging through logs and corrected the problem.

If the employee is sitting at their desk while working it works perfectly; if they are required to go hands-off for extended periods of time to perform tasks of their device then the value is diminished. This isn't a product issue.

The ActivTrak's powerful stealth agent gives you the ability to follow in depth the activity of your users and machines. There are features like the automatic screenshot and the web and application activity that are really [like] helping hands to maintain the population in agreement with your security policies. No excuses, you got all evidence easily in your hands. When we got into the pandemic in 2020 we sent all our users home and it was easy to manage user productivity.

Cons

The 'View Activities' icon in the top websites menu should open a new browser tab avoiding to use the browser's back arrow
There are adds in the menu structure like the features "insights", "coach" or "integrations" that sends you to an upgrade button. This is unproductive and could be separated in the menu structure.
Sometimes the blocking feature does not work as well and you got to create rules at the firewall level.

Likelihood to Recommend

Follow user's real time productivity using ActikTrak's ability to watch users' screen contents, means you can watch Real Time user Screen activity or set up the system to create snapshots that will help you to provide evidence of user screen contents (I did not find any other solution in the market that provides this kind of feature). The productivity and unproductivity tag that helps the admin to classify will demand some hours to set up each application and website and it would be helpful to get some pre-classified insights with AI.

ActivTrak has been rolled out by myself to all of our staff workstations/laptops. It helps us to monitor their active work hours or if there is any malpractice during work hours like browsing leisure websites/youtube etc. This tool becomes very handy to assess the work from home employees. The analytical tools give us a clear glance over our resources.

No agents for linux PCs.
API for independent integrations.

Activtrak is well suits firms that deal with confidential information and employees are working from home. It helps to have conditional surveillance over our office tools, so unusual activities can be reduced.

We currently use ActiveTrak on a targeted basis as part of our performance management infrastructure. We have found it extremely beneficial in providing our Management and Development team with the trends and data around usage patterns and strategies. As a result, our effectiveness as a business in enhancing performance for those targeted users has been increased. In addition, we have found the tool useful in a number of scenarios, where perhaps trust is an issue, such as outgoing employees and this has to enable us to better protect the interests of the business in terms of data exfiltration and generally good practice. Within the first couple of months of using the product, it had paid for itself many times over just in this particular field of play.

Pros

Trend analysis
Data collection and presentation within a user friendly interface.
Ease of installation/ removal.
Data exporting / reporting.
High availability of service.

Cons

Remote installation within a domain environment is not consistently successful requiring physical installation in some instances. Best practice in terms of group policy to support remote installation would be beneficial.
Web activity can be challenging to drill down in terms of reporting via activity log, a more Power BI-like interface to drill down from top-level domains to individual pages and back again, for example, would be more intuitive and time-saving.
Email alerts when user count exceeds the license numbers.

Likelihood to Recommend

For a team of remote working, this does identify different working methods and trends, especially when able to compare multiple users in a similar role it becomes extremely powerful to see where users can enhance performance and focus time/less time. This would be very difficult to establish even if the users are on-site with the manager. For more micro-management or specific scenarios, whereas, for a business, you need a close eye applying this as it is an extremely reliable and detailed tool that is such a good value for money.

We currently use ActivTrak within our Sales and Engineering departments.

The Sales team utilizes the insights and data from ActivTrak to drive better conversations between Sales leadership and employees. Managers use the data to see how employees are operating systems and tools and then guide employees on how they may alter their work to be more effective and thus drive greater team output. Also, to ensure employee well-being, prevention of burnout, and productivity trends.

The Engineering Department uses the device for a different reason. They use the tool to monitor contractor and vendor resources to ensure company tools, resources, and data are used according to policies.

ActivTrak is an excellent tool to drive greater productivity conversations and performance within roles that team output is easily reported on such as Sales, Support, and Professional Services organizations. This is a great way to keep remote or hybrid teams connected and be able to identify in advance potential burnout or change in behaviors that can start a proactive, strategic conversation to identify areas for potential disengagement in advance to have an opportunity to keep a key performer. This tool also helps employees see how they might be more productive within their working hours to drive great self awareness and their own self management.

ActivTrak is used at Alpha to track time students spend on their learning applications.

Pros

Provides raw data access which is valuable to us.

Cons

ActivTrak's current categorization system leaves much to be desired. If the system were more robust and specific, then we would not have to rely on the raw data so much.
Chromebook tracking is not always reliable and has not been updated recently.

ActivTrak is great if you want access to the raw data as it provides a level of flexibility to perform more analysis and generate your own reports.

We have been using this tool in our business for quite some time now and that is also in quite many different ways. It is working as a Workforce Analytics Software and we find it to be the best software we have ever used. This tool has solved problems of tracking all the production happening between employees. This tool helps us in gauging if an employee is productive or is a good fit for our organization or not. Hence, to sum up we are truly liking this tool so far.

Pros

This tool provides us with notifications about employees if they are being overloaded with work.
It has proven to be an easy product that is always available for those who you should not be contacting.
The product has an amazing alarm feature that lets us know if employees are corrupt or sometimes if files get saved on an external device then this feature saves us.

Cons

I find the USB tracking system to be a little incomplete because it should be helpful in setting alarms for USB storage devices.
The Live Productivity Report Page also needs some improvements like it would have become better if users had the ability to print the page.

Likelihood to Recommend

I personally think that this tool is adequate for office environments particularly when you have some doubts. I find this tool to be very useful and helpful. Also, the product shows users the categories plus the amount of time they spend in each category just to derive an idea of how they spend time. Overall, I love and enjoy this product a lot and I would highly recommend businesses to give this a shot.
