What is Amazon Q?

Amazon Q is a family of enterprise generative artificial intelligence assistants developed by Amazon Web Services (AWS) that provides automated software development support, enterprise data querying, and operational decision support. Amazon Q Developer is offered as AI Code Assistants & Agentic IDEs for software engineering. Amazon Q Business supported enterprise search functionality, but that edition is no longer available to new customers.

No-Code Application Generation (Amazon Q Apps): Enables non-technical users to build custom, lightweight web applications from conversational prompts using verified organizational data sources.
Business Intelligence Analytics (Amazon Q in QuickSight): Generates natural-language summaries of data visualizations, builds executive dashboards, and answers unstructured financial and operational data queries.
Contact Center & Operations Extensions: Extends conversational intelligence into Amazon Q in Connect to surface real-time response recommendations for customer service representatives and Amazon Q in Supply Chain for inventory tracking.
