Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Basecamp for messaging and file sharing between our Standing Committees. It helps keep information easily accessible in one place that can be referenced at any time. It is also an easy way to message committee members and keep a simple thread of responses. It is also good for collaboration, with use of the Writeboard feature.

Pros

Cons

When messaging, you have to click names of people on the committee so they get an email into their email inboxes (nice feature), but click that many boxes can be time consuming.
If you need to change someone's login email, you have to delete the user and then re-add them with the new email.
Listing of "projects" on the side is small and takes a while to "see" sometimes.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is good for asynchronous work. It is a great messaging system, even if it can be a bit clunky at times. But, easy to learn. If you have a large folder of documents to share, you can create a ZIP on your desktop, then upload the ZIP - works very well.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

For internal and client-facing project management, Basecamp does the

trick! You can set and assign tasks with deadlines to specific people and keep all documents and correspondence in one place. You control what the client sees at all times. You can tie it in with Harvest or other time-tracking

apps. The only thing missing is CRM and invoicing capabilities.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Basecamp for all of our daily communication. We also use it for file sharing and organization. It keeps all of our projects easy to find and we can set deadlines and estimates. It also works seamlessly with our timekeeping platform so it's super easy to track our hours.

I wish that copy-pasting worked better (like copy-pasting from an email).
There could be a better Gantt chart function.

When we onboard a new employee, we get them on Basecamp on day one. We do the same with customers as long as they are computer-literate enough to handle it. It is so much more organized than email communications and being able to send large files is a game changer.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As a graphic design agency, we use Basecamp to keep track of the work we do for clients and share progress with each other. This allows us to communicate with each other so we can collaborate on projects. We assign jobs to each other for each project and are able to make sure we get everything done in a timely fashion. We use all parts of Basecamp to complete our design agency work remotely.

We are able to keep all of the work we do for different clients separate and organized. It makes it easy to find things and track time when using the Everhour extension. It is less appropriate when we need to work with large files. It can take a long time to upload and can just crash the window. Sometimes we have to just post a link to Dropbox because of the size of the file.

The range of projects that I've used Basecamp for are: - Multiple book writing projects; - Research projects; - Volunteer organization development projects and - Side gig/income stream development projects.

My colleague and I knew we needed an online platform for collaboration on various projects. We initially tried Slack but found it very command-line oriented (at that time, 2016). We tried Basecamp and very much liked it (we're both 'users who know enough to be dangerous'), and we continue to use it for a wide range of professional and personal projects.

Basecamp is a project management software we used for a short time to help collaborations and organizing projects. In my experience, the software was hard to use, not intuitive, was hard to use and confusing for clients, and what finally did it for me was the lack of notifications. It literally did not notify me, teammates, or the client multiple occasions. Finally I said enough - I said this software is costing me clients and money far beyond its value, and stressing all parties out just by using it. I do NOT recommend Basecamp.

Functions are hard for clients to use and collaborate with
Messages ( including important ones ) were not being received by other parties when we or they would ping each other. We would sit there waiting for each other, while we had often both already responded. Costs time, looks bad, annoying. Was nail in the coffin for us with Basecamp. We paid ahead for the year and I still axed it half way through for ClickUp, which is much much cleaner.
In my experience, the interface is not intuitive, and is ugly.
In my opinion, the price is way too high for failing basic proj mgmt app needs

In my opinion, Basecamp is not suited for a high-output marketing or development team, or anyone who has to collaborate with a client directly through their proj management software. I cannot think of a situation where Basecamp is well suited except as a free software for individiual task tracking, literally nothing more in my opinion.

We use Basecamp as a project management tool. Although it does it's job, the layout isn't very intuitive and it's a bit confusing how the projects are managed. Other project management tools seem to organize projects in a layout that makes more sense. It is a nice feature that Basecamp has a generic chat function built in, that doesn't need to be tied to a specific project, however, these days it seems most organizations use Slack for their internal communications.

Basecamp is a basic project management tool. It doesn't have anything too complex and for that reason might be a good fit for an organization looking for something simple with a low learning curve. I've enjoyed using Basecamp a lot. I've worked on a lot of projects with this software, and it's proven crucial for project management. Real-time communication has been remarkably effective. It was exceptional because of the app integration. I can automate my Basecamp tasks utilizing well-known integration services that are compatible with Basecamp.

It has been commendable when managing projects; in our case, we have various projects where we can easily manage all of them in very low pricing models; on the other hand, if we use some other software, it would be costly, and the user interface would be quite difficult to manage.
