For sales we use it for a couple things; some of our main uses include reassigning leads, deduplicating records, enhancing data, and nullifying fields that have a value. For our customer success use we use it a lot for case reassignment when reps leave, enhancing data when we are able to parse historical account data, account owner reassignment, and activity creation just to name a few.
  • Deduplication of records when enriching data.
  • Allowing for us to null fields upon request (data loader cannot do that).
  • The UI is much easier to use than the out of the box Salesforce data loader tool.
  • Windows only, this was the biggest disappointment. Most users in our company used Mac so we either had to have specific people do all the DemandTools work, or use our really old inventory of Windows computers (i.e. carry around two computers).
  • I wish it also worked with HubSpot Sales.
  • Did I mention that it was Windows only?
It's a very powerful tool. So yes, I would recommend it to current Salesforce and Windows users.

The university uses a Saleforce database to track and manage incoming student records. Each campus uses DemandTools to make mass updates, dedupe records, mass import records, and to clean addresses. The problem the software addresses is keeping a large number of records organized.
  • Mass update Salesforce records.
  • Deduplicate records.
  • Mass import records.
  • The user interface is not very intuitive, but once you figure it out, the software is very powerful.
DemandTools is a very powerful Salesforce Database administration tool. My main criticism is that the user interface is not very intuitive. However, once you get over the hump, it's a great software. My organization originally started using it because it was offered as a free software to non-profits. However, after being purchased by Validity, our org starting getting charged significantly.

DemandTools is used primarily by our Salesforce admin team on a day-to-day basis to do data maintenance activities, i.e. ownership changes, territory changes, basic field updates. I have used it for monthly clean up activities such as removing bogus lead records or deleting email signature images that get added when emails are imported into Salesforce. We have used it extensively during data migrations to pull and compare data. Finance also uses the export data capabilities went pulling data for large reports or where it is just easier to get data from multiple related objects.
  • Report/Find IDs is the hidden gem of DemandTools. It is basically a super fast vlookup against your entire database. Easily add data to a report or find the records that match a list. I used this feature extensively when migrating data to a new org to do a compare numbers.
  • Data export by object is so easy and the ability to pull data from any related object is powerful. I find myself using data export more then running reports in SF because it's so much faster and hugely flexible.
  • Every module has clear steps and in-line help.
  • As much as I love the object export, I wish I could order the columns that get exported. I use it, at times, as a replace for running reports because it is so much faster but not getting to pick the column order is a bummer.
  • While you can filter fields you are looking for, it does not show related objects, so if you are looking to add the owner name you have to scroll down to owner and open it to fine the name field. If you have the Owner related object open, if you filter on "name" it will filter down correctly but if you then filter on something like "title" the Owner related fields will not reset to the full field list and will continue to only display fields with "name" in the fieldname. Annoying but not a deal breaker.
DemandTools is a must have app if you have an org of 150+ users. It has saved me so many hours of doing work in Excel and then updating via data loads, by allowing me to manipulate the data directly in Salesforce. A task that would take 30 minutes now takes five. It really adds up. The Job Scheduler is a huge time saver as well if you have a bunch of scenarios that can run independently. At one point I had over 30 scenarios I needed to run daily and using Job Scheduler I would just auto run them every night.

We use DemandTools to help with large jobs associated with manipulating and correcting our data in Salesforce. We utilize Lead Conversion, Single Tab Dedupe, and PeopleImport to ensure we do not have duplicate contacts in Salesforce. We also use Find/Report ID’s with mass effect for non Contact, Lead, Account objects.
  • Being able to create scenarios saves time on repeated tasks.
  • There is a mass manipulation tool for almost every need you might have in Salsesforce without having to write code.
  • The interface is simple and easy to configure.
  • The platform is very expensive.
  • I wish there was a product like people product that worked with all custom objects. I have to use three products and steps to import custom objects without IDs.
  • The job builder is a bit confusing would love more resources.
DemandTools is a very expensive tool, but it does exactly what it advertises. If you have a need for these data manipulation tools your options are either custom code or DemandTools. I wish that this was also available for Mac OS. Also wish there was more video resources to understand how to use the platform more creatively.

Currently being used by sales operations to assist with marketing campaigns and deal with data imports and reassignment of contact owners based on custom lookup on accounts.
  • Given lead CSV converting to Contacts with given AccountIDs.
  • Saved scenarios for repeated task.
  • Fuzzy Match.
  • Windows only - main OS is Mac here.
  • Clunky screens - dated UI.
Data management and manipulation is where this is focused. Once you have fine tuned the scenarios you can deal with duplicated or automated processes on ownership.

We use DemandTools within our IT Salesforce team to mass manage large amounts of records, especially deleting and modifying contacts. It's quicker and more comprehensive than any other tool when managing large amounts of data, more than a couple thousand records.
  • Deleting large numbers of records.
  • Very detailed soft and hard matching scenarios.
  • Saving scenarios to be reused.
  • Documentation is terrible since Validity took over from CRMfusion.
  • Very expensive, especially for many users.
  • Very flexible and detailed means difficult to learn how to use.
If someone has the time and expertise to learn how to use it, it's the most flexible tool I've ever seen for managing large numbers of Salesforce records. For smaller numbers of records or less complex use cases it's not worth the expense, or the time it takes to learn how to use the tool.

We use DemandTools primarily for deduplicating our accounts/contacts. We have used some of the other tools as well, such as Reassign Ownership and PowerGrid. We use PowerGrid for updating and maintaining our Salesforce instance.
  • Finding duplicates.
  • Making it easy to update en masse.
  • Cleaning up data.
  • Not easy to navigate through modules I'm not familiar with.
  • Documentation is severely lacking.
  • It's way too expensive.
If you have a lot of data and need to clean it and deduplicate records, DemandTools is great. If you don't have a lot of data, the expense is high and there are cheaper alternatives.

DemandTools is used exclusively within our data steward and business intelligence teams. The data stewards regularly run list imports, account and contact deduplication, direct field updates for standardization and other mass data updates to conform to business rule changes. The BI team regularly uses the ID lookup feature to merge CRM data with external data sources for analytics purposes.
  • DemandTools is a must have tool for Salesforce administrators. It runs mass data imports/updates/exports in a fraction of the time of Salesforce native tools.
  • Super efficient data processing by being able to save/run scenarios across the entire depth and breadth of the database. You are able to match/filter/update any related object and field.
  • Easy way to backup all your data.
  • Find/Report IDs is like Excel vlookup on steroids.
  • The interface is a little dated but still user-friendly and intuitive to use. DemandTools even overlays numbered steps to guide you through a job.
  • Processing speeds can sometimes be an issue, but not necessarily DemandTools fault, as CPU and bandwidth could also be to blame.
DemandTools is a must have for Salesforce administrators. It is my most indispensable tool. I have been a Salesforce customer for 13+ years and had DemandTools for each of those years.

For the price point, DemandTools is an unmatched tool for cleaning up data in Salesforce (or Dynamics). It allows you to get extremely granular, and also apply your methodology to a large number of records at once. Once you've cleaned up what you have, it also allows you to put measures in place to prevent junk data from living in your database.
  • Normalizing data like country, state, etc. You have out-of-the-box scenarios you can instantly apply or you can create your own based on any field in your database.
  • Import contact records and easily associate them with accounts, leads, contacts and campaigns.
  • Dedupe records within and between leads, contacts and accounts. You have out-of-the-box scenarios you can instantly apply or you can create your own based on any field in your database.
  • The user interface looks very outdated and makes the tool seem more intimidating than it actually is.
  • The out-of-the-box scenarios are not always integrated into the user interface.
  • Over the 4 years I've been using this tool, the customer service has improved 200% but there are still some glitches.
DemandTools is well suited for scenarios where you have a technical-minded person that understands how relational tables work who can jump in and try things. DemandTools is less appropriate if there isn't a technical-minded resource who can own the tool.

DemandTools is used by our Salesforce COE extensively within our org. The tool is powerful enough to extract large pieces of information and flexible enough to update and de-dupe records for our changing business needs.
  • User interface is easy to use and organized well.
  • Bulk Api feature, allows processing of large amounts of data fast!
  • Mass effect is a great tool for updating mass records for changing business needs/processes.
  • It would be nice for selections to be saved, if I start an update then switch to insert it clears all my mapping.
  • It would be nice to have separate success and error files when doing updates outside of bulk.
DemandTools is a powerful tool that helps us do work that would normally take a long time very quickly. While improvements can always be made on software the core of what it can do is fantastic.

Currently, DemandTools is being used only by our Business Intelligence department. We have 4 members of our department who use DemandTools for daily deduping of records, mass impact and job builder for name and address maintenance using Fuzzy Logic and proper case to fix all of those all caps or all lowercase entries, and PowerGrid to globally mass delete fields that aren't needed, make adjustments to fields that need to be changed or any type of global change needed based on the object. We have 2 Salesforce orgs and DemandTools enables us to make daily or even weekly adjustments to data as changes are deemed necessary.
  • Single Table Dedupe is used daily by our department. The purpose of using it is for the Admissions office where applications are entered by prospects as well as are imported from a variety of application sources. Utilizing fuzzy logic enables us to find the same person whether they entered their name as Tim or Timothy. This enables us to keep our records cleaner than relying upon matching rules within Salesforce.
  • Mass Impact is used daily utilizing the normalize addresses feature so that all addresses in Salesforce are within the same format guidelines. I use Mass Impact, in conjunction with Job Builder to have these features run on an hourly basis. Global name adjustments to normalize all caps or all lowercase entries is vital and Mass Impact definitely makes this process run more smoothly.
  • PowerGrid is one of my favorite features because it enables me to make global changes to any object. I can mass delete, which I do several times weekly, and it's much faster and more user-friendly than any Salesforce native tool because it enables you to see what changes you're making and you can reference the record being changed right within the view to make sure the change you're making is what you were intending.
  • Mass Effect is a feature that is used several times a week. We use it to update records already in Salesforce by adding on missing information that we'd like to incorporate into the record. Using the Find Id's function enables you to verify that the records you're planning to upload are accurate and then using the Mass Effect function uploads the data. Replacing data is also available with Mass Effect, but we do not use that as frequently.
  • I would like to see the Find Id's function and Mass Effect functions as one cohesive function. The Mass Effect function doesn't give you a view before updating or changing data and I have to use Find Id's first to make sure all of the data is how it needs to be translated before I use Mass Effect. If these features could be combined into one then that would be a big time saver.
  • I know this is a bit of a stretch, but I would like the ability to duplicate a report for multiple objects on PowerGrid. I use the contact and enrollment objects the most and both of these objects contain much of the same information, but I have to duplicate my report for both the contact and application object just to delete or mass edit fields on a specific object. I would love it if there were a multi-object view where I could pull up both the contact and application objects with Demand Tools so that I could globally change whatever fields I need. As an example, Contact has a contact owner and the Enrollment object has both an app owner and app owner user. If I want to globally change these to a new person I have to create both a contact and enrollment object report to change these to the same person. If I had both objects combined, then I could just pull all three of these fields in one report and make my changes right there. I know there's the reassign ownership function for my specific case, but PowerGrid is my go-to for almost all global type changes.
  • The dedupe function would be great if it could house multi objects such as both contact and enrollment objects. Since we have to dedupe on the contact and then application objects it would be ideal to do this process in one screen rather than having to do it in multiple instances.
I actually recommended DemandTools to my colleague for her Salesforce org and we both are using it now. DemandTools is ideal for mass deletes and global changes because I can see what I'm attempting to change in real-time and I can immediately reference the record being changed right from within the report. DemandTools is always my go-to for any global change functions because it's quick and easily controlled, which is not the case of any of the native Salesforce products.

DemandTools is being used by a handful of Salesforce super users and the Business operations team. We have one person in product marketing who uses the platform to help mass manage price book/product data to include associating image files with their correct product records and manage a custom process for publishing price book entries to be visible by external users on our Salesforce communities portal.

The Operations team is using the platform to do a lot of different things: data management of opportunities and point of sale data, loading in point of Salesforce data leveraging prebuilt scenarios. swapping out products on opportunities, and some scheduled jobs which overcome some system limitations within Salesforce. DemandTools is our primary tool for managing all of our Salesforce data.

The only thing we don't like is how DemandTools is bundled in with all of Validity's other products now, DemandTools has the highest value and ROI and for us and should really be its own product for purchase. price has increased since Validity took over the product.
  • Real-time data modification with powergrid
  • Mass data loading using Mass Effect
  • Reduced new hire training leveraging scenarios
  • The interface is outdated and harder for younger viewers to learn as they are used to a more modern GUI.
  • I'd also like to see cost kept low. It's a backend data management tool.
DemandTools is great at managing all of your Salesforce data. I wouldn't be able to do my job as efficiently or effectively without it.

Our sales/sales operations team mostly uses DemandTools to cleanse Account-related data, particularly as it pertains to mass ownership assignments for commissioning purposes; ensuring that our Account hierarchy is consistent with the correct level of ownership across all objects is crucial, and DemandTools helps us maintain those relationships with repeatable and schedulable processes.
  • Deduplication of records
  • Schedule-able and repeatable data jobs (saving scenarios and scheduling them)
  • Visualization of data being updated
  • Antiquated user interface
  • Dealing with large Salesforce data volumes is sometimes a challenge
DemandTools is best suited for repeated data updates where you want to ensure that the update is the same every time you run it, without fiddling with it or changing the logic. It is also great as a replacement for batch jobs or ETL jobs that you may want to run in Salesforce; instead, DemandTools may be able to run that data update and schedule it for you.

For simple one-off data loads, sometimes DemandTools isn't necessarily the correct tool especially for those less experienced with it.

DemandToola is being used by our organization for addressing the problem of duplicate leads in the system.
This tool is being used in our company by the Department of Information Technology. Converting Leads is a breeze with the Lead Conversion in-demand tool. Leads can be compared to contacts and accounts using powerful and flexible matching techniques. When matches are found, the leads can be converted and merged into the matching contact, or a new contact on an existing account. Our system continuously get thousands of duplicate leads in our system. To address this we use DemandTools and everyone is now happy with the no-code deduplication we have in our system.

  • Dedupe functionality is powerful.
  • MassImpact allows us to update thousands of existing records in system.
  • Ability of job builder to be schedulable.
  • Alerts by DemandTools for potential duplicates.
  • UI of demand tool could be improved.
  • Sometimes it take some time to search the field you wanted to filter.
  • As I love this product, I am waiting for more updates.
If you are having thousands of duplicate leads in your system and you want to deduplicate them, this tool is just awesome. Lead conversion with this tool will allow you to convert leads in either existing contacts and accounts or create the new one. You can also put filter conditions in finding the leads, accounts, and contacts. I haven't yet come across any scenario where DemandTools is less appropriate in the features it is providing.

We use DupeBlocker to find and merge potential duplicate records in our Salesforce org. It is a vital part of our daily operations. We are able to both auto-merge records and also identify and view duplicate matches allowing us to decide what records need to be merged and what data to keep. We would not be able to function without it. We also use DemandTools to identify potential matches in files from outside sources using similar criteria to what we have set up in DupeBlocker.
  • Auto-merge: We don't want to have to manually merge all records if we have criteria that clearly identifies a duplicate record.
  • In setting up our auto-merge rules we are able to tell DupeBlocker not only what records to look at, but what record to keep and what to do with particular fields and values.
  • DupeBlocker helps us identify duplicate records we already have in our system.
  • We have been quite pleased with DupeBlocker. Sometimes it doesn't run because of too many processes attempting to run at the same time.
We have files from outside sources that we have to identify with records that we already have in our system. We use DemandTools to do this. We load all new records in a batch size of 1 if we want DupeBlocker to run and find potential duplicates. This saves us time later because records either auto-merge or end up on our potential duplicate report where we can view them and merge them if needed.

DemandTools is used by multiple teams, including our Salesforce team, Revenue Operations, and Marketing. We use it to upload/de-dupe new accounts, as well as to de-dupe existing accounts and mass update leads/accounts. It helps us keep our Salesforce database clean and organized.
  • Can be a bit clunky to use
  • UI is not modern
  • Doesn't work on Macs

We primarily use DemandTools for data de-duping, for finding record IDs, and mass updating data. It is currently being used by the Enrollment office (Office of Admissions). It has been very helpful to help with the merging of duplicate records in our system especially when students apply to our college through various platforms using different email IDs, which is our unique identifier.
  • Merging multiple duplicate records into one
  • Helping find record IDs for a large dataset to perform mass update operations
  • Helping with record ownership
  • I find all the features very helpful and can't think of anything that needs improvement.

We use DemandTools as a Revenue Operations department. Our team is responsible for Salesforce & all martech. It helps us keep our data clean and up to date so that all Salesforce users can be empowered to do their jobs efficiently. One specific use that has been extremely helpful at our organization is the Lead Conversion module. We use it to match Leads to Accounts which has transformed our ability to conduct account based sales & marketing activity.
  • The modules themselves are just top-notch, fantastic use cases for all.
  • Each module is very clear on what each step provides. Easy to understand & use.
  • Training videos/docs are detailed and helpful.
  • Scheduling batches to run overnight could be easier. We need to have a separate server.
  • Being notified when a batch (overnight) doesn't run would be huge. We'd prefer not to have to go look for the things that went wrong. Should be delivered to us.
  • The community is very clunky and often hard to navigate through.

The tool is used mainly to support and manage Salesforce data. First, we use it for mass editing or creating new records. It is also invaluable as a tool to search for additional data based on one value, e.g. an email address. It is also the best way to mass combine/merge duplicates. Daily work without DemandTool now seems impossible.
  • Easy to use (after proper training).
  • User friendly.
  • Large spectrum of possibilities.
  • Not always intuitive, previous training needed to work on this.
  • Does not search for values from all objects, only one.
  • Some things only available on Workbench and it would be great to have them here as well.
Powerful tool with a wide range of functionalities. As one of the few tools on the market, it offers mass merge accounts, which is a great help in managing duplicates. If I can add a suggestion, it would be even better if you could create rules which value from the merged account to choose in the absence of a value in the parent account. For example, take the number of employees from the account that has the largest number, or take income from the account that was changed at the earliest.

It also allows, in certain cases, for an easier experience on users of the Salesforce software.
  • Deduping
  • Mass updating of data
  • Mass cleaning of data
  • Verifying the cleanliness of data
  • Clarity of certain features
  • Pricing
  • Getting answers to feature questions can be difficult
It is well suited for cleaning data and finding cases where users are making errors. The availability of DemandTools sometimes leads to unrealistic expectations about how much data cleaning can be automated and how much needs to be reviewed by users. Having steps to facilitate this would enhance the experience for Salesforce admins and end-users.

We use it to manage data quality in my team, but it is used across departments but for different purposes. My team manages contacts and leads. We use it primarily for duplicate management for contacts and lead objects to query data in real-time and to mass convert leads to contacts.
  • For querying data, I like how I am able to join cross objects (i.e. Contacts + Account).
  • Robust single dedupe features allowing me to customize my merge scenarios even to the field level.
  • Single dedupe allows me to merge thousands of records at a time.
  • The UI is old fashioned, could be more visually appealing.
  • Would be nice if software was accessible through the cloud.
  • It would be nice if there was some AI feature where you could teach it to merge records a certain way, including records NOT to merge and it would make these recommendations for you.
  • Ability to scale and handle large volumes of records (think 50 million+ or even more). We have been having problems recently.
DemandTools is great for someone who is managing data quality in their Salesforce instance. We primarily use it for the single table deduplication scenario, with proactively merging contacts and/or leads respectively. It is well suited for the Find ID feature to locate IDs in real-time as long as it is within record constraints.

We use DemandTools for record inserts and updates supporting all departments in a single business unit. Examples: Import lists, dedupe lead, contact account records, record owner updates, etc. There are three active users. It's not a tool suitable for our entire organization to use due to the ability to make large changes quickly.
  • Large batch updates.
  • Organizing duplicate leads into a single view.
  • Ability to work with data inside of CRM.
  • User interface: scrolling in lists is impossibly difficult.
  • Price is too high.
Best suited for a Salesforce organization that needs to manipulate a large database. SF admins and data analysts are good users. It is not a tool that most individuals would be able to use if they do not have a good understanding of the underlying data model.

Only a few people at the company use it, but we use it to clean up our database.
  • Removes the manual task of trying to locate data points to append to exported data.
  • Detailed options for creating dedupe scenarios.
  • Helpful tips through the platform on how to better use the tool.
  • I wish the life raft "helpful tips" wouldn't disappear so quickly, they don't stay up long enough to read. Maybe don't have them disappear, but instead, have the option to close the screen once you're done reading?
  • It would be great if there was a "Frequent Error" help page, I sometimes have a hard time navigating these.
It does what it needs to do and is pretty straight forward. Great for merging duplicate data, updating fields, and matching data points.

DemandTools is used to support our admissions process through TargetX. We mainly utilize MassEffect to make large scale changes to multiple records at once.
  • DemandTools is user-friendly.
  • It is easy to follow step by step processes.
  • DemandTools allows us to do things that are not otherwise possible in Salesforce.
  • I’d like for PeopleImport to be more appropriate for use with TargetX
  • In general, there are only a few functions that are applicable for higher education.
It would be very difficult to use TargetX without DemandTools. However, there are really only a couple of features for which we use the software.

We have a lot of data insert/update requirements on an ongoing basis. It is being used by the I.T. department to perform data management and keep Salesforce up to date with the changes needed by business folks. It addresses problems related to complex data updates and saves tons of time for us admins.
  • Ease of usability.
  • Can upload Excel as well as CSV files, no conversion needed.
  • Auto map feature works great, interactive user interface.
  • Even considers the Excel tab as a separate file during update.
  • Once purchased, only allows you to connect to one Salesforce org, not transferable.
  • Pricing based per user.
DemandTools is best suited if you make data-related changes in your org on a daily basis. If there is a regular need to manually insert records, you can save the automap and reuse it all the time. If Sales Reps are changing positions or moving out of the company, their data can be easily reassigned to other reps with few clicks using the reassign ownership features. No need to extract reports, make CSV files and upload. It is less appropriate if you don't have too many data update scenarios.
