We also use Softlayer heavily for development, which is the area where I think they shine, as they offer "cloud-style" pricing for all their services, which means we can get a bare metal server, or... … Costs are much higher than one would expect, however, you do get what you pay for, and having high-quality equipment available at hourly rates is going to cost.

Can start off very low budget ($50.00 dollars per month) and scale up in the future when needed. … I like the dedicated servers but they are more expensive than the cloud servers (not a negative, I can understand the price increase).

I ran a full day's worth of simulations during my lunch break for less than the cost of extra syrup in my latte.

With a few shell scripts and minor adaptations to the Java-Pommerman launch... … The sales team goes above and beyond when needed.

It's less suitable for cost-conscious customers as their instances are sometimes a lot more expensive than an equivalent on GCP and unlike AWS...

Very expensive Windows license values had 60 servers running IBM with $ 12,000 a month and I come back every year reducing the size of the infrastructure I have with IBM. … I no longer recommend IBM due to bad support and the fact it is more expensive than the competition.

Thanks to all the price configurations they offer, we don't have to worry about the cost, since we can order the lowest configuration for simple tests or a better one for production.

Once fully optimized we were able to actually run MORE servers due to the cost savings, as it becomes a break-even in the previous price we were paying for a lesser amount of servers.
