It is being used for our entire website. Each department has its own web manager, but I manage the overall website design and coding. Everything runs through my team before anything gets published.
  • Organize pages
  • Create lists
  • Blogs
  • News articles
  • Usability
  • Reliability
  • Help documentation and support
Once set up it works pretty well. Administrative side of things is a little harder to use than other CMSs.

We use Sitefinity internally as a CMS for some of our own company sites, as well as offer to build websites and services using Sitefinity. We develop web applications and websites and use Sitefinity as our primary CMS for the solution.
  • It has very granular permissions for users in the backend.
  • You can customize pretty much anything you'd like for a tailored experience.
  • Initialization times are really the only thing that I can see improving on.
  • Documentation could be a little more structured.
For clients that want custom features and ease of use when it comes to editing their own website, Sitefinity is a great solution for that. We've had many clients want different views of, for example, a staff widget. Being able to make as many templates as they want and easily implement them by dragging and dropping with the editor to place them anywhere on the page is great.

We have implemented Sitefinity as the CMS of choice for various website projects. One of the huge considerations we have when choosing a CMS for our clients is the ease of use and the capability to integrate with external (3rd Party) systems easily. Sitefinity ticks both those boxes. It is extremely easy to use for our clients but still gives our developers the ability to customize where we need it. When used with the Digital Experience Cloud (DEC) that progress offers, it's an excellent marketing tool - top to bottom. We also evaluated the cost of Sitefinity against some other solutions and for the license and implementation fees, it was a no-brainer. Other CMS systems costing 2-4x as much could not compare.
  • Updates to the CMS software
  • Support on critical issues
  • Larger install base
  • Speed of support replies
It's great for a company that needs an easy to use CMS. The interface is very well thought out and organized in a way that you would expect. At the same time, because of how it's engineered - it's really easy to extend as you need. Integration with external data providers is possible and easy to do. The personalization and marketing capabilities are integrated - something that is not common in this price point. There is a licensing fee for the different editions of Sitefinity and that must be weighed with your project budget since this is not an open-source CMS. In my opinion, the license cost is well worth it having dealt with the costs and risks of using an open-source CMS.

Currently being used by multiple departments in the organization. Sitefinity Progress has allowed them to be able to submit content and create forms without any I.T. intervention. It also helps address some administrative overhead so we can focus on improving our overall web presence and back-end server technology rather than helping folks edit.
  • Modern platform.
  • Good customer support.
  • Full featured.
  • Upgrades could be smoother.
  • Licensing could be more tailored toward our industry.
  • Could be considered to have some performance bloat. Would like to see options to slim down the page sizes.
Well suited for a large organization where you would have many editors. Software seems very secure and less "hackable" than some of the open source platforms.

Content Management. It is used agency wide. It helps users with our external content management and internal employee messaging portal.
  • Easy to use - especially for new content managers
  • Great product support/TA
  • Maybe more pre-set templates
  • Expanded programming options for forms/social media outreach
Progress Sitefinity is well suited for users that are not familiar with programming and do not have the ability to manage something like an open source software. It is less suited for clients that want the ability to customize at a high or intricate level.

We currently use Progress Sitefinity CMS across our agency. We use it for our main public facing website, we also use it for smaller programmatic websites and our intranet.
  • Drag and Drop Widgets
  • Creating Templates and Pages
  • Website Templates and Themes
  • Third Party Widgets and Tools
Progress Sitefinity is well suited for organizations that need non-technical users to maintain portions of the website without having to rely on IT for support. Progress Sitefinity is less appropriate as it relates to customizing existing templates with third party integrations.

Progress Sitefinity is being used by our marketing team as a site content management system. We use it to create new content and to upload images. It allows our marketing team to engage with our online audience and to remain current/accurate in our messaging. It is managed by our team webmaster, but it is used by many members on our team to create and duplicate landing pages. It also allows us to create messaging at various touchpoints. This is especially useful when urgent messages need to be communicated.
  • Landing pages that include metadata, UTM tracking, and vanity URLs. These landing pages are easy to create and can be duplicated in a very short team.
  • Site content management - It is easy to add text content and to upload new images.
  • Messaging - We often need to create urgent messages related to a storm warning. This allows us to create message units or widgets that alert our policyholders.
  • Landing pages are easy to duplicate but could be easier to customize.
  • Reporting is limited. If reporting could be automatically tied to Google Analytics that would be a plus.
  • An SEO optimization tool that looked for errors and suggested improvement would be very helpful.
Sitefinity is very cost-effective and support is good. After the 12.0 update, we were able to eliminate use of tools like Unbounce and Optimizely. Having one content management system with broad functionality is very valuable. Sitefinity does many things well like A/B testing, landing page development, and messaging. It is not the best for customization, but it is improving. The one area that would help is more training. Very few webmaster candidates had familiarity with Sitefinity.

The whole organization uses Sitefinity. Primarily it is a marketing tool, but has grown into a company wide resource that allows all departments to reach out to the community and let everyone know what each department can offer.
  • Easy to manipulate and organize widgets on a page
  • Interface to create custom widgets
  • Keeping up to date with JavaScript libraries
  • More features and control to form management
Sitefinity is well suited for a company with a programmer available, especially if there are any custom widgets. If custom widgets aren't needed then a company with the need to keep clients engaged and coming back would do well with this software. Sitefinity is less suited for a company that has static information or large volumes of PDFs that need to be downloaded.

We run our corporate website off a series of 6 total servers running Sitefinity. We utilize it across a few departments, Marketing and IT mainly. Sitefinity has been a very flexible, easy to adopt CMS. We launched a new website and CMS all at once and it was refreshing to utilize Sitefinity over our prior CMS system. Sitefinity is a clean, very user friendly, adaptable, feature rich CMS. Pricing is attractive, features are there, support is very adequate. We have a complex use case with 6 servers running Sitefinity and interacting with each other, and we're still trying to get a handle on simplifying the upgrade process - which has been our only minor hurdle.
  • Very flexible and easy to use to create new pages.
  • Customizable widgets allow for displaying data the way you need and want it to.
  • Simple to setup synchronization to additional servers.
  • Diagram or illustrate more use cases for server setups, and managing of upgrades.
  • I'd like to see the ability to synchronize from one server to multiple others at once.
  • Implementation assistance as part of the purchase rather than farming out to 3rd party, although they did answer every question we asked in order to determine our best architecture setup.
Sitefinity is a very cost-effective CMS system with the flexibility needed by a front-end developer while still being super easy to use by less code knowledgeable people. If you just had one server and database set up with Sitefinity it would be the simplest, and possibly adequate, setup. Adding servers complicates the upgrade process, the scheduling process, custom field additions etc. but having development, staging and production servers is worth the effort.

Super easy to generate new pages, news/press items, lists. A little more complicated to set up Salesforce and Sharepoint connectors.

This is a web CMS platform that's being used across departments, but only by a subset of employees that work on web content.
  • Modern infrastructure.
  • Good quality of technical support, and a renewal/sales representative that is willing to work with you.
  • Lots of features and room for customization.
  • Delay in getting technical support tickets assigned.
  • Performance is a bit of an issue, but that may be due to our on-premise infrastructure.
Progress Sitefinity is fully featured and has much of the nuts and bolts in place to get things running relatively quick.

Progress Sitefinity is being used to host our company website. It has allowed us to host our own site, manage the content and easily customize the CMS to our business needs.
  • Customizations can be made easily.
  • Built-in tools are very functional.
  • Provides integration with other platforms such as Salesforce.
  • It would be nice to see more options in some of the modules such as events, news, documents, and files.
  • More extensive samples of customization and use cases.
  • More updated online training.
Progress Sitefinitiy is very easy to use and navigate, and the ease of installation and deployment was, and is, excellent.

Sitefinity is our CMS for our website and all of our affiliate websites. We wanted a platform that was easy to use, yet robust with analytics, customization and features. Sitefinity met our requirements.
  • Easy front-end customization
  • Feature-packed eCommerce module
  • Good support
  • Simple mobile optimization
  • Pricing structure
  • Make process to update software easier
Sitefinity is great for most website applications, but I would specifically recommend it for eCommerce-type of sites.

We use Sitefinity as a CMS for our corporate website etap.com and several sub-domains for development. When we purchased the software in 2015, we found that we needed quite a bit of customization of which we rolled back a considerable portion because of our own learning curve of what you can do with Sitefinity. We tried to implement multiple-site replication for our Chinese office and other places, but found that the cost for multi-site licenses is expensive and we couldn't find the development and support staff to work with. Languages was another area where we struggled since workflows didn't work with language roles. Otherwise we have been using the CMS across the company with Marketing being the driving force for content and development.
  • Depending on the usage, it is pretty easy to work with page templates and build content widgets
  • Content syncing with SiteSync works great
  • Implementation of languages works well
  • Personalizing page with persona, country or other specific content works well
  • We are using release 9.2 right now and are in the process of updating. Using mail templates with forms is a important missing piece.
  • Better connectivity of the Digital Experience Cloud with the site content.
  • E-commerce, biggest disappointment! Apparently new integration with 3rd party available, but we specifically purchased Sitefinity to have an integrated e-commerce platform.
  • MVC page templates
  • User guides are very often not very user-friendly for non-developers.
  • Straight forward websites without e-commerce and a few languages - great.
  • You can develop your own modules/widgets and get most work done without needing a developer. You will need a consultant or developer for the initial setup and deployment.
  • Sites like ours, etap.com, with dynamically generated pages via API, languages, event management, etc. difficult.
  • E-commerce is so basic that it is hard to do any sort of customization. basic e-commerce tools are missing.
  • Release 12.0 however looks promising.

We work with a 3rd party vendor to implement Sitefinity CMS to host our organization website. The 3rd party does the development for us and we manage the content on a day to day basis.
  • Sitefinity is a stable environment. We don't have many issues with crashes etc.
  • Sitefinity has a good organizational structure.
  • On the front end, Sitefinity is fairly easy to use.
  • We aren't able to do customization on our own. The 3rd party vendor controls the back end code. This limits our ability to always do what we would like to do without calling in a 3rd party.
  • It might be helpful to have a "plugin" system, kind of like WordPress, that allows users easier access to a wider variety of functions without programming knowledge.
If you want to hire a third party to set things up and you want to just manage content or if you have people on staff who can do the heavy lifting with the programming languages involved, Sitefinity could be a good match. If you want to be able to do more than just manage content, but don't have the programmers to handle the languages involved (Microsoft), Sitefinity might be limiting.

We have a few users within our marketing and IT departments that use Sitefinity as a CMS for our website. Sitefinity has made it easy to publish, maintain, and edit content on our website for our clients to find information and access online banking.

  • Ease of use. Content items are easy to add to the page and make edits.
  • Customization. Standard content items are available but there is also the ability to make more advanced customization by embedding code and scripts.
  • Well structured interface. Easy to navigate within the Sitefinity console.
  • Availability of an easy to add on two-factor authentication for logging into the CMS.
Ease of use. Good solution for those needing an easy to use CMS with the ability to further customize.

We use Sitefinity for marketing purposes in order to provide prospective students a knowledge of who we are and what we do for our community. Sitefinity is also a platform to gather information from those same prospective students so we can contact them in a more personalized method. Sitefinity has given us the ability to create custom widgets and forms to grant extra content based on who has applied to the school and who has paid a deposit.
  • Sitefinity Technical Support is always responsive and ready to help. I have even gotten follow ups at night and on weekends.
  • Sitefinity is designed to be flexible. No matter the requirement, there seems to be a way to achieve it.
  • Out-of-the-box items can satisfy a great deal of the needs, but never get in the way of customization's I create.
  • I was trying to set up a new app and the online documentation hadn't been updated.
  • However, I contacted support and they got back to me quickly with the correct instructions.
Sitefnity is great at reusable templates and creating a single unified look and feel across an entire site while giving the ability to have custom content so every page doesn't look like a copy and paste. This keeps end users engaged in specific content on the page while having the structured framework.

It hosts the static site for the organization. It's the hub that moderates our business.
  • Easy to make on the go changes.
  • We can personalize messages based on a number of factors such as, location, times visited, etc.
  • Affordable.
  • We can make directional changes for the business without assistance from IT.
  • Client engagement is low. Ensuring that you get the latest and greatest version doesn't happen as often as I'd like. When you ask a question, you are usually referred to a SOW and not the actual services you paid for.
  • There is no Client Success Director to ensure we are properly using the product.
  • We could use training and that is not offered.
Sitefinity is well suited for an organization that does not want to wait on IT releases to make changes to their website. The product works well managing our digital content and users can easily pick up the basics. The product would be much better if the organization continued to communicate with our business to ensure we are successful and using best practices.

I use Sitefinity with clients now to provide them a CMS solution that has a good user interface and a wide variety of features available "out of the box." I also use their available libraries and platform to add custom components or integrations for my client's unique needs. For those that need a .Net based proprietary CMS solution, I find it the best option available for the most reasonable price.
  • Intuitive and user friendly interface for creating and editing content.
  • Easy to implement additional features, such as a blog, news feed, or document repository.
  • Powerful library to extend your site with custom integrations.
  • Powerful ability to build customized templates and user controls for reuse on multiple pages.
  • Solution code does not play well with a standard source control mechanism such as Git. A few changes will be needed.
  • Creating custom widgets that are non-trivial takes additional time and effort.
  • Upgrading the platform can be problematic if the default tool doesn't work.
For those that need a CMS solution that is easy to manage and quick to get going, Sitefinity provides a great platform to fit these needs. If you require a solution that requires heavy customization, such as special blog post types or custom modules that function more as a web application, then Sitefinity might not be the best fit.

In 2012, I moved our organization from being reliant on outside vendor for all content additions/changes to using a content management system (CMS). Sitefinity was the best choice for our company because I wanted a CMS that was .NET based for integration with other Microsoft platforms, was a proprietary system for a predictable and stable platform, was inexpensive, and was easy to use.
  • Makes it easy for an administrator to assign roles for others in the organization to contribute content.
  • Easy for administrators to know when new content has been created and is ready to be reviewed and approved.
  • Its licensing model makes it very affordable for small and medium sized business to adopt the platform.
  • They continue to update the platform with new features
  • We have created a Chinese version of our site. I do not read or speak Chinese; however, I cannot create a role for one of our Chinese employees to be an administrator of the Chinese portion of our site. They must either be an Administrator for the entire site, or an editor for the entire. This creates additional effort / hassle for the team.
  • I have what I believe to be a simple question for the owners of Sitefinity. I wanted to see about using Sitefinity with AWS. Our web agency says that we cannot ask the owners a question, because they will only respond to an "issue". Because we cannot get an answer from Telerik, we are trying to figure this out on our own....and spending a lot of money along the way.
  • It is difficult to find one agency that understands both the front end design capabilities and the back-end technology capability of the platform.
Ideal for companies who are a Microsoft shop, and are small to medium sized businesses. But if you want all kinds of cool design possibilities and you have your own web designer, you may be better off with an open source product like Joomla.

We use Sitefinity to update our website. The Marketing/Communications department is the main user but other departments use it as well to make changes to pages associated with their knowledge base. It's made the website update process much easier because of the ability to share tasks.
  • Sitefinity is very user-friendly. If I'm not able to figure out how to do something, their knowledge base is very detailed and easy to understand.
  • The standard components of Sitefinity make it very easy to add new modules to our website. For instance, blogs, general news, and events.
  • The online account is very nice. One login/location for me to access my license, renew the service and ask questions.
  • I would like to see an easier to use image solution. This could be active in the upgraded versions, but I'm not currently able to upgrade.
  • I do wish there weren't so many steps to activate a new module (I may be using the wrong term here).
I am very happy with Progress and Sitefinity. Our old solution was very manual but this CMS puts everything in one place and allows tasks to be shared across several departments. The support and help features of Progress's knowledge base and staff are very, very helpful and simple to use.

We use Progress Sitefinity as our external facing website. It represents our entire organization.
It addresses marketing, communication, enrollment management and serves as an internal employee web portal.

Our ability to tie into our active directory of users, to quickly get users up and running and allow for multiple editors across our organization is invaluable. The publishing workflows that Sitefinity allows for, gives us the web governance control we need, while allow our content experts the ability to generate content that can be moderated before being live.
  • The content publishing workflows in Sitefinity are easy and work very well.
  • The editing interface is my favorite. The layout widgets, in conjunction with content widgets make creating any number of content layouts in just a few minutes a piece of cake.
  • Access rights and permissions are easy to set up; and more importantly, give you the ability to be very granular (person or role).
  • The upgrade process for updating the system is lacking. While there is a "simple" upgrade installer, many times, the assembly references are broken or point to older versions.
  • I typically wait until an X.1 version before I upgrade our system. Each "new version" of Sitefinity comes with quite a few bugs and usually aren't resolved until the X.1 update.
  • The ability to control the HTML editing control is not as easy as it used to be in older versions.
Sitefinity is great if you have a larger website or many content editors. If you are a one-man show, the feature set may be overkill.
