We picked the Acquia Digital Experience Platform as our main content management system (CMS) and digital experience platform (DXP) that allows us to easily create, manage, and deliver digital experiences across multiple channels (web, linkedIn, email) and devices. It helped us to create engaging and personalized digital experiences for customers, manage and deliver content super easily, and integrate with other systems and platforms. We mostly used the platform for website development and management, digital marketing, customer engagement and quotation.
  • content editing/updating
  • trendy website design
  • ease of use
  • user management
  • advanced web features (such as parallax scrolling)
  • spam email filtering in forms
  • live edit previews
Acquia Digital Experience Platform is awesome for web development, design and content management. We didn't need to hire external consultants every time we wanted to create new pages, update or add new content. We were able to integrate videos, 3D models, maps and other features that made our website stand out. It appears as if it's made by a professional but the platform is so easy to learn that anyone in the business can register as a user and do some edits. It's great that the staging and dev environments are separate so that we can easily oversee the changes, get feedback and ensure everything is working before going live.
We did not have to do this yet but given the knowledge I have on the platform I have no doubt that its capability and features will make scalability very easy. With the existing integrations we are already seeing the traffic come to LinkedIn, our ordering platform and emails.

This originally started being used primarily in marketing but is now used in our careers and community digital landscape. The platform allows us to focus on the content and design specifics and leave the technical platform administration to the Acquia Support team.
  • Single, easy to use online dashboard to manage the applications.
  • Easy to use drag and drop code deployment workflow within the platform.
  • Simple support ticketing process allowing quick access to support and Technical Account Manager (TAM) resources.
  • The monitoring report capabilities are still quite restrictive. Uptime and historical logs could be presented in a reporting structure in the dashboard. This would make the dashboard a single source of truth.
  • Simpler SSL cert upload process. Instead of extracting the keys maybe a simple file upload process could work.
For code deployment purposes their [Acquia Digital Experience Platform] drag and drop feature is a really useful tool. Domain management is easy to use (if you have multiple domain records that you require to manage). The Cloud Edge and WAF subscription pays for itself very quickly and allows for granular management of firewall rules. You can now manage multiple SSL certs in a single application. This is a really positive addition. If you require post-event triage the platform is not quite ready for this yet. You can still access data but you will need dev[elopers'] resources to extract the logs directly from the server(s).
There is always room for improvement, but the current platform has allowed us to bring several other departments [into] the solution and we now cover 4 separate areas of the business within our DXP platform. Flexibility and scalability [are] readily available as is the ability to centralize core design and functionality requirements. This allows for consistent branding and UX UI capabilities across our websites.

My company uses Acquia Digital Experience Platform Cloud as our website host for four of our sites. We are in the process of developing a 5th site which will also be hosted on Acquia cloud. Acquia Digital Experience Platform cloud take a lot of the support needs out of our hands so that we can focus on our teams' core competencies - site development and content. We have several sites not hosted on Acquia and they take far more time to maintain than our Acquia-hosted sites. I am used to having a more hands-on approach to server hosting (AWS, Digital Ocean, etc) so I personally struggle with the somewhat blackbox-iness of Acquia Cloud. At the same time, there are fewer opportunities to make a mistake affecting the server, so it's definitely a net benefit for our sites and their stability.
  • Great Uptime
  • Great Customer Support
  • Simple platform interface
  • Documentation
  • Could use more configuration"recipes"
Acquia Cloud is well suited for organizations and teams without the ability to support their own hosting, such as on AWS, Digital Ocean, etc. If a team has the ability (and desire) to manage it themselves, I'm not sure I would recommend it. However, if your team needs reliable, hands-off Drupal hosting, I would definitely recommend Acquia Cloud. Once a deployment pipeline is configured, it's very nearly set-and-forget as far as server configuration is concerned.
We've never had our sites crash due to unexpected traffic - the services simply take the traffic and keep on ticking. We've had to adjust the level of service provided on occasion, but that's a good problem to have. Acquia allows us to focus on driving traffic and delivering content, and not on keeping the servers updated or worrying about load balancers.

I use it to host our main site. This is for hosting our internet presence and linking to other company-owned resources. Doing so allows us to right-size the operational requirements as well as enhance the offering to our clients.
  • Hosting
  • Building the right environment as per our needs.
  • Customer support and engagement.
  • Provide more training resources.
  • Certification would be good to have.
  • Monitoring updates.
I can offload the burden of maintaining the infrastructure required to run the site on-prem. Furthermore, the hosting of the environment is left to the team that knows how to completely manage the Drupal platform and ensure that the hosting environment is taking advance of the features of the platform.
We are currently not taking advantage of this feature. Our site is a simple website setup to drive content views.

  • I'm trying to find ways to make the core and module updates simpler
For all of the reasons I stated earlier but in addition, today I had to open ticket for the first time in a year. The support I received was immediate and while the issue I was having ended up being due to another website, the tech did not just pass me off as not his problem. He gave me actionable information I was able to use with the website that was the actual cause of the issue.
We only have one site so at the moment, this question doesn't apply to us.

We use Acquia's DXP for our enterprise clients that have very specific or high standard requirements into regards of hosting and products. Clients that want an extremely flexible front-end we gear towards using Acquia Site Studio, while other use cases where a customer might want to launch 50 sites each year we gear towards Site Factory, sometimes even a combination of the different products and packages.
  • High Availabillity
  • Easy to use and understand UI
  • Easy to self manage
  • Modern approach with Cloud Next
  • Support sometimes feels a bit like ping pong
  • Real containerised hosting (currently you can only deploy code)
High Availability hosting that complies with all ISO rules and practices. Very well suited for enterprise level clients (pricing is also geared towards those). Some products like Site Studio are unique to Acquia.
Acquia uses next gen technology and their hosting is done on AWS. From a technical point of view they should be able to scale with minimal effort. Their Cloud Next (containerised approach) also means that load balancing and scalability is a lot easier to do as with traditional hosting set-ups.

The tool is used to host 20+ sites for each directorate at OJP. The key problem the tool addresses is having a common code base, architecture, and infrastructure for all directorates. Prior to Acquia, there were several technologies used for hosting the sites which created difficulties in maintaining, staffing, and updating sites.
  • Consistent user interface
  • Uptime
  • Robust logging and error tracking
  • Provide a tier of service where Acquia provides a true PAAS rather than relying on the development team upgrade core components
The tool is great for organizations that have web presences that provide similar functionality and content. However, a dedicated development team will be required to maintain security patches and necessary upgrades.
With Cloudflare CDN and the caching provided by Acquia, the sites are very responsive and have scaled well as more users have engaged with the site.

We use the Acquia Cloud platform to build website factories. Using Acquia Cloud ensures that the platform is fully optimized for Drupal. We also use Acquia Search to build features based on Solr. • Robust and scalable infrastructure.
  • Acquia Cloud UI.
  • Support
  • I don't know.
Appropriate for: Large Drupal websites Websites factories Less appropriate maybe for small websites, considering the cost.
The platform is scalable (I can't wait for Acquia Cloud Next!) Starting a new website is really quick with our website's factory.

Our group uses Acquia to host and manage over 50 websites for various city departments and elected officials. Acquia site factory allows us to easily manage the sites and deploy updates. Acquia Cloud IDE allows the developers to quickly spin up environments for testing code or style changes and preview the changes before implementing them.
  • Managing multiple sites.
  • Providing support for questions.
  • Provide more tools to manage themes/styles.
Acquia makes it easy to manage multiple websites from a single codebase. Acquia provides a robust hosting platform for Drupal websites. Depending on the need to manage users and content and how often content is updated, Acquia can be a good fit. If the content is not updated frequently, the solutions provided by Acquia may be overkill.
Acquia provides powerful tools to deploy websites and manage a single codebase.

As a digital agency, we use the Cloud Platform service to host the websites of a large number of our clients. The service provides us with a straightforward and easy-to-set-up hosting solution that our developers can then use to deploy the websites with ease. The platform offers the ability to configure a lot of the internal tools used when hosting a website, and the support team is helpful and quick to respond when any issues arise.
  • support team
  • ability to configure parameters within the hosting setup
  • dashboard for visibility of website environments and services with great UX
  • ability to configure even more parameters for internal tools
Great platform for hosting Drupal websites While the focus is on Drupal would be great to have ability to host Symfony/SlimPHP applications for any microsites that a client might have alongside their Drupal site.
Adding more servers or increasing their capacity is a straightforward job and we've able to scale the platform with the demands of our clients.

We host, deploy and support client sites on this platform.
  • Quick deployment.
  • Good support.
  • Excellent documentation.
  • I would like cleaner development environments. Sometimes several versions of software that are no longer needed can live on the servers. I believe that it would be possible to conduct an audit from time to time and delete unnecessary ones.
The platform is very good for drupal projects. Engineers know what they are doing. Many services are tuned specifically for this CMS.
First of all, it is the ease of scaling. Everything is quite intuitive and described in the documentation.

Since we launched the new LumApps website this year, we're using the Acquia Digital Experience Platform to manage and improve our website CMS: Drupal. We switched from WordPress to Drupal/Acquia in order to build a stronger CMS, for lead generation, but also on a daily basis use for all the contributors.
  • Page builder with high flexibility
  • Strong Deployment Workflow
  • All in one CMS
  • Easier database SQL queries
  • Better updates regarding Transport Layer Security (TLS)
  • Allow redirects by keeping UTM in the URLs
Acquia Digital Experience Platform is a very strong tool managed by a strong team. It helps to get highly quality features but as it's not open source, there's sometimes a lack of flexibility to implement custom needs. (In a way, that is normal).
Since the beginning of the website rebuild project, our agency gathered our needs and expectations. We also shared several technical or SEO specifications, and they have been able to fully adapt the software to our needs, in order to create a custom interface that we can easy use on a daily-basis.

Acquia built and hosts the websites for our university library system -- at least 8 libraries under one umbrella. I QA'ed for the build team, and I maintain and enhance the site subsequent to build and launch. I use the Cloud Platform dashboard and the Cloud IDE, in conjunction with Github, to manage the configuration of the front end, while others are in charge of content.
  • the site is powerful
  • you can get very granular with configuration and content
  • layout is very simple to execute, but it doesn't look simple on the front. it's simple to execute complicated things
  • almost endlessly customizable with modules
  • the support portal can be hit and miss. sometimes there are very helpful people who get back to you in a timely manner, but more often there's a lot of lag time for the ticket to get picked up and in between responses, which can also be less than helpful.
  • it seems like the different departments within acquia (support, management, build teams) don't communicate with each other.
  • because features are so dense and granular, sometimes the workflow or how they are connected can be really complex to access.
You are able to create almost anything you want, and make almost endless customizations with drupal modules. This is I think the strongest feature of Acquia.
The biggest drawbacks are the inherent complexity - with great customizability comes great complexity-- and the unreliability of the support.
I think that once you truly grasp and are comfortable with the workflows, it will be a very smooth and logical process, but that takes concentrated effort because of the complexity. But, changes on the front end are instantaneous and cascading. It's a tradeoff, which is expected, you just have to be prepared for that.
We have 2 sites under the main domain (this is considered a multi-site with config split) and several sub-sites, so I don't know that we've really given the scalability a true run for its money, but so far, so good.

Acquia Digital Experience Platform excels at delivering a trustable enterprise environment for open-source software. The tool suite makes it easy to empower everyone, from developers to IT professionals and marketers alike. Acquia Cloud takes away all of the hurdles in terms of platform management. It allows everyone to spend more time innovating and delivering value to the Drupal ecosystem rather than dealing with infrastructure and compliance. We love the intuitive interface of the platform and the extensive documentation.
  • User experience.
  • Feature completion.
  • Platform onboarding.
  • Security
  • Deployment pipelines.
  • Transparency of the pricing structure.
  • Keeping up with the versions of some satellite system (ex. Solr).
  • Some features that are "out of the box" on other platform are extras on Acquia.
Acquia DXP is well suited for a project in which you want a high level of integration between tools in a coherent ecosystem. It is great for empowering the team and treating your platform as a product that evolves. To get the most bang for your buck, you really have to use it actively with a trained team. You have training tools in Acquia, or you can work with one of many Acquia Certified Partners. Do not use Acquia products if you want a small static site; this is suited for large ecosystems.

We use Acquia Digital Experience Platform as the hosting platform for our enterprise website. Our website serves both branding and informational purposes, and it is critical that the site is stable and responsive. The site is a fairly complex drupal instance, and we use a variety of Acquia services to support site development, maintenance and delivery.
  • Excellent, responsive customer support engineers
  • Stable and effective hosting platform
  • Helpful CLI and additional tooling for interacting with Acquia services
  • I miss their old local development kit called DevDesktop. I wish they would bring it back.
  • Some of their documentation is great, but some could use work.
  • I feel that the options they expose for interacting with our site logs are not ideal.
If you are planning to develop a site that needs enterprise-level availability, Acquia Digital Experience Platform is a good choice. There are certainly cheaper options out there if a less robust solution is tolerable, however. The hosting is great for us, as a PHP/drupal shop. I'm not knowledgeable enough to say if Acquia Digital Experience Platform is the right choice for other technologies.
Our site traffic fluctuates widely, both on a 24-hour cycle and over the course of the year. We have had not trouble to support our peak traffic on Acquia's infrastructure.

We use it to host the Drupal Content management system for much of our site. This includes thousands of pages.
  • Low Down Time
  • Excellent Tech Support People
  • Good administrative interface
  • They replaced Acquia Dev Desktop with Acquia Cloud IDE which doesn't let you set up as many instances of Drupal.
It is especially good for large sites with lots of traffic. The ability to easily give different workers different rights is very helpful. I wouldn't use it for a small site with little customization or traffic. The overhead with using Composer would be a bit much for those instances, though it is very helpful for complex sites.
We get the memory and bandwidth resources we need and more. We've never had a problem scaling up.

Acquia has a very large offering of services that cater to larger enterprise clients. Smaller single-domain clients like our website seem like a loose fit for what Acquia provides.
We don't use scalable solutions.
They are absolutely fabulous and have never dropped the ball in 8 years of us being on the platform. If it wasn't for Drupal 8/9 being unrealistically complicated compared to other offerings like Django/Wagtail we'd be still with Acquia and Drupal.
It's a great user interface. It's always being updated and I've never noticed a bad update that increased the complexity or reduced

Low-code solutions are great for clients that need to empower content editors and spin up sites quickly. We have used Site Studio to do this for a campaign that was televised during the Super Bowl. It gives marketers the ability to pivot quickly and edit a lot of content easily.
The product is easy to use and deploy across teams.
