Very decent product

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it as our primary remote support tool. It's integrated with our ticketing system and allows for quick connections. We use it regularly to solve end user problems or assist with authorization of installs.

Pros

  • Remote control is solid, rarely loses connection
  • Allows for control of the desktop prior to login
  • Allows for scripts to be executed in the background without disturbing users
  • Allows for batch rollout of scripts across multiple machines
  • Allows us to see the end users' desktop - as opposed to RDP

Cons

  • The client is a little bulky. Would appreciate something that uses less resources.
  • Enterprise rollout is not optimized. We ended up having to install manually in most cases.
  • Client is often not active after initial install - often takes a reboot before it's available.

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited for remote support. Less well suited if you want tight integration with an RMM.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE) for our incident analysis and troubleshooting the alerts, incidents and tasks. It very fast and user friendly. We receive the output very easily. Even if we take remote via virtual network it is very fast and does not hang just like any other software's. Highly appreciated.

Pros

  • Virtual network
  • As a ticketing tool
  • Remote access everywhere

Cons

  • Sometimes the dashboard will be very small, and it does not show all the alert list.
  • I have not found any other disadvantage of this
  • NA

There was one project wherein we wanted the fast result, and the deadline was quick for one day. We used SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere (DRE) as a virtual network remotely. We took RDP of that and took connection. The result what we got was too quick like within some hours. We showed the same to our clients and received their appreciation once it went LIVE. Thank you so much team for this. Apart from this I never found this less appropriate.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Dameware Remote Everywhere to connect to remote users in our network, or while they work away from the office. During this process, sometimes we need to transfer files to the remote systems.

Pros

  • remote assistance
  • internet based remote assistance
  • file transfer within the aplication
  • chat messaging with the user

Cons

  • remote installation without admin credentials - then allow admin to perform full install once connected
  • AD Deployment of application
  • grouping of computers for staff that are enabled as a user

Dameware Remote Everywhere has been great for us. we have previously used Dameware Mini Remote Control, and it was great. We updated to this version because it was cloud-based, and offered a better connection to our remote staff.

An affordable powerhouse solution for remote management and support

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Dameware Remote Everywhere to support remote clients in both unattended modes as well as on-demand. This product addresses the need for remote support when users are either on the road or quarantined due to Covid-19. Unattended access is usually set up on machines for remote maintenance and monitoring to make support more efficient especially in time-sensitive situations.

Pros

  • Unattended remote access
  • Ability to quickly and easily distribute the remote software client
  • Allows users a painless way to connect with tech support for a myriad of issues

Cons

  • Connectivity to a helpdesk/knowledgebase would be nice feature so users can do self-help
  • Offering a branded version of the client/agent would be a nice touch for businesses
  • A web-only version of the technician console for remote support would be a nice feature

Likelihood to Recommend

DRE is a great tool for any business offering remote support. It is more affordable than a lot of other products as well as offers unattended AND on-demand access in one product. Many other competitors offer unattended and on-demand services however ask for two separate subscriptions which is inconvenient and more costly.

Easy to use, intuitive, and stable

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We mostly use it on the "IT" side of things. Technically though, anyone who needs to physically remote into a machine can get access and use SolarWinds DRE.

Pros

  • Maintains session information for multiple reconnects
  • Supports multiple authentication types
  • Multiple options for connecting (RDP, MRC Viewer, VNC Viewer, etc.)

Cons

  • Cannot multi-select saved hosts (for mass deletion)
  • Sometimes randomly seems to "reset" saved connections

Likelihood to Recommend

SolarWinds Dameware Remote Everywhere is very well-suited to corporate environments where bandwidth is not an issue. I can remote into anyone's machine anywhere to assist them, and the faster their network connectivity, the faster I can get the job done. Dameware is ill-suited to slow bandwidth areas. Satellite offices or VPN users in bad mobile service areas have a hard time, especially if the service has not already been installed and configured. Damware will do this on its own at the first connection, but it can be slow and troublesome over these networks.

Easily and Quickly Manage Users and Computers!

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

DRE is being used by the entire organization. I use DRE on all machines to manage and assist users, along with managing servers and VMs. DRE is helping greatly in these new days of heavy remote working.

Pros

  • Manage users remotely.
  • Manage computers remotely.

Cons

  • Names of computers in DRE should mirror the actual computer name in AD and not have nicknames. We adjust laptop and desktop names according to their location. If the DRE name isn't manually updated, it can make a lot of confusion.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well suited for managing users across many issues. I'm a single user and manage anywhere from 300 to 500 users at multiple sites, and without the remote capabilities of DRE, it would be near impossible.

DRE is a game changer!

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have devices throughout North and South America, so after researching several options we found that Dameware Remote Everywhere was the best solution for us. We can manage devices that are outside of our domain which is very helpful since right now during the COVID-19 pandemic a lot of our users are working remotely, so we are still able to help them with DRE.

Pros

  • Works great with devices that are outside of the organization's network.
  • Console can be used via the app or web based.
  • DRE works with Windows, MAC, and Linux.

Cons

  • Maybe have the capability of working on mobile devices.

Likelihood to Recommend

The best thing is that it can be used to provide support to devices that are outside of our domain. With the current pandemic, this has been very helpful.

Great Solution

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Dameware Remote Everywhere to support our customers remotely and it helps us drive down costs but increase response times. We use this fantastic program not only to support our customers but as a tool to assist each other for the ones in the field as well. Program is great when it comes to giving a 3rd party an option into a system as well to provide additional support when need.

Pros

  • Quick Response Time - Don't have to drive to customer sites as frequently for small issues.
  • Easy to use and install.
  • Rich Features - Command Line behind the scenes, FTP Uploads, etc.

Cons

  • We have found it can be intensive memory usage on systems.
  • Not a huge fan of the End-User connections using Google Chrome Extensions, a little complex for some users.

Likelihood to Recommend

We find it well suited for all our scenarios, either for support or for one on one training.

DRE is a phenomenal addition to anyone using SolarWinds for their helpdesk!

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it company wide as our Samanage helpdesk (another SolarWinds product) integrates nicely with it.

Pros

  • The ability to send ad hoc links to a Samanage ticket allows users to be helped even if they're on their home computer and need assistance logging into our VPN was essential for us in the COVID-19 transition to an at home workforce!
  • The methods of deployment are nice and easily managed through GPO.
  • The interface of seeing waiting sessions and options to collaborate with other technicians is nice and user friendly.

Cons

  • When the end user doesn't have admin rights (most don't on work PCs or within VDI) and they click to run the downloaded exe given to them from the helpdesk ticket, the exe isn't smart enough to realize there's already an agent installed (which DOES allow admin rights) so what ends up happening is the technician becomes hampered and unable to even see the screen when admin rights are requested forcing us to adopt an ever changing password tempadmin user that we give to the end users (but even then we can't see what they're seeing and our session goes into an infinite loop). DRE is supposed to request and even give credentials for admin access but it simply doesn't work in practice when within a VDI environment.
  • I'd like the ability for all technicians to be logged in even if we don't have the licenses, we pay for concurrent sessions not users, it shouldn't require us to leave the application totally logged off, that's silly.
  • Given the robustness of the integration with the Samanage helpdesk (saves session history so we know there was a technician who helped that ticket, etc) we really wish it was smart enough in the inventory integration to know what agents already exist and are operating and allow us to give a link to leverage that user's agent on the known inventory item, like if there was a dropdown in Samange for known inventory PCs associated with that user and based on the user's ticket see which have the agent installed allowing our technicians to simply click to connect to that rather than putting our user through downloading and running an exe.
  • An interface showing all known inventory items akin to how TeamViewer does it with their address book would alleviate some unknowns and allow for better management of unattended remote access needs rather than us hunting for it and/or resorting to other means of access not DRE (like vCenter spying on a session which messes up users with multiple monitors, RDP which takes over user sessions with our own, or VNC which doesn't work through the internet).

Likelihood to Recommend

I think for ANY environment it's worth taking it out for a test drive. It's very powerful, especially when using the agent to connect to sessions where the end user doesn't need admin rights but when not in a VDI environment it likely would perform better with its built in functionality to ask for elevation.

It is really powerful, even with the ability to run command line scripts without the user seeing (kind of a built in psexec) and it does work with Mac and Linux to some degree too so it really is worth trying out regardless of your environment. It may be just what you're looking for and the sales folks at DRE are not pushy at all, at least in my experience, and give great advice even at the expense of selling less licenses!
