Excellent Payment Platform

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Tipalti is solving the problem of being an effective platform that we use to pay our domestic and foreign video owners.

Pros

  • The system is easy to navigate and I am able to download the reports that I need.
  • I am able to effectively gather the data that we need to send to licensees and to report to the IRS for tax purposes.
  • Can effectively identify 1099s and 1042s

Cons

  • Improved turnaround times from customer support to close out open tickets that we've submitted.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is our housing system that we rely on to store the data that we need for our accounting records on a monthly basis during our month-end close and on an annual basis for tax reporting puposes.

Saves time and simplifies process.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Currently use Tipalti for accounts payable processing and employee expense report reimbursement. Optical character recognition and seamless integration to our ERP save valuable people hours.

Pros

  • Communication with vendors on submission. Upon successful submission of an invoice to an unmanned email address, the vendor receives confirmation of either success or an issue.
  • Communication with vendors on setup. Tipalti places the onus of setup on the vendor, which reduces the potential for keypunching errors and holds the vendor accountable.
  • Internal process flow. Tipalti does a fantastic job of routing invoices for approval.

Cons

  • Tipalti can improve by have the ability to pay in more currencies.
  • Tipalti can improve by adding more products such as account reconciliations and checklists.

Likelihood to Recommend

Tipalti does a great job of simplifying our accounts payable process. We can process numerous invoices with minimal effort. Specifically, Tipalti will remember and suggest how the previous vendor coding was for an invoice. On the other hand, if a vendor invoice can be coded to multiple accounts or locations, this feature will not be as helpful.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Tipalti to process all our company's invoices, and we use the AP Hub, which increases our efficiency as an accounting team. We receive invoices from multiple countries and currencies, and we can process and pay all of those invoices directly through Tipalti. It has been an excellent solution for us as we continue to grow as a company.

Pros

  • AP Automation
  • Netsuite Integration

Cons

  • Auto Reconciliation

Likelihood to Recommend

Tipalti is great for improving the efficiency of the AP and procurement processes here at our company. We have 100's of vendors from all different countries and currencies and we are able to organize those invoices and pay them in a timely manner. Without this type of solution our processes would take drastically longer to complete each month.

Tipalti Review by Finance Manager

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Tipalti has been implemented 3 years ago as part of automating our AP Team, previously it was a very manual process where an individual would need to review invoices and code according and also pay manually. Ofcourse this exposed us to human error risks. Tipalti has been particularly useful in establishing good controls and governance in this process

Pros

  • AI and Machine Learning to code invoices
  • AI and Machine Learning to approval process
  • Segregation of duties for inputting bank details, which is a major risk factor for fraud if controls are not in place
  • Api with our Finance system

Cons

  • The Sync errors are difficult to under
  • The funding section could be presented better
  • At times payments fail however the reason is unclear

Likelihood to Recommend

Based on my experience where Tipalti is well suited, I would say for small start companies that don't have the resource to have a large Account Payable Team, Tipalti is a great fit that would help here. Also, if you have 1 or 2 people in a AP team this is great as it allows for segregation of duties. I have no examples of where it will be less appropriate

Tipalti keeps delivering on their promises

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Tipalti to take on the lion's share of our vendor and contractor payments process. We have both domestic and international vendors, and we need the flexibility of allowing different pay methods (wire, ACH, check, PayPal). Tipalti accommodates different approval workflows that are not rigidly tiered to title or position.

Pros

  • Vendor self service for managing pay methods and bank account details
  • Flexibility around setting approval workflows
  • Integration with NetSuite
  • No more need for us to track uncashed vendor checks

Cons

  • Integration and support for third party procurement cards (they're working on this; I trust they'll get there)

Likelihood to Recommend

Tipalti shifts my team's time from less value-added tasks (cutting vendor checks, tracking uncashed checks, updating vendor banking details) to the more important controls functions of making sure expenses are approved and are properly coded. Tipalti is very good with supporting international vendors. Tipalti likely requires customers to have a certain volume of vendors and vendor payments in order for there to be enough time and efficiency gains.

Tipalti Review

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Tipalti to process invoices, create PO's internally for purchases. Tipalti has helped us tremendously. We are a global company and Tipalti has helped us tremendously by allowing us to do one pay run instead of multiple bank file uploads per entity. In addition, it flags duplicate bills and scans invoices to cut down on time coding bills. Lastly, it syncs with NetSuite allowing us to skip more uploads. I am still learning more about Tipalti so I am sure there are much more benefits to be learned.

Pros

  • Scanning invoices. Once you have coded 5 or more invoices for the same vendor. Tipalti will scan and auto populate the coding.
  • Syncing. Tipalti Manually syncs bills that have been approved. Once a bill is approved it will be in our ERP 15 minutes after.
  • Filters. There are many filters you can customize and use which will help show the bills you are looking for. When you are a large company like us and see thousands of bills, filters are crucial.

Cons

  • Image swap, and image swap feature would be amazing and help save time. For example, if you have an office change and process a bill addressed to an old office and it was already approved. You could swap the image of the new invoice address to the new office instead of having to delete and reprocess the invoice.
  • Sync errors, I think all sync error titles should be stated. I should never have to reach out to Tipalti support just to find out what the error is and then have to try and fix it. To me this is time consuming for no reason.
  • During pay runs if the check box would be a little bit bigger or if you mis click by it then it not open the invoice. A lot of times when i am doing the pay run I will mis the box just slight and it will open the invoice. This is just a personal issue but I cant be the only one who does this

Likelihood to Recommend

I would tell them that it manually syncs to ERPS. Additionally I would include the fact that you can pay multiple entities in one pay run allowing to be very efficient. I would also include that they can add rules to bill approvals or set up auto payments for certain vendors. Lastly, there are many reports you can run providing you will very informational data in seconds.

Tipalti Review

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Tipalti mainly for our AP process-coding bills and send payment to our external vendors.

With Tipalti, we are able to add different entities in our organizations, and also connect with our accounting system, Intacct, seamlessly. We need to code and pay around 300 bills/month and I'd say Tipalti definitely helped us a lot on the process

Pros

  • AI scanning process for bill coding
  • Sync Failure report with detailed reasons
  • Able to add different entity and currency
  • Tipalti support is quick and helpful

Cons

  • Need to delete lines one by one/delete all. If we can have a "select" box to select which to delete that would be awesome
  • Ability to update lines not one by one
  • Some improvement on SOX control(for example, specify more access control with people cannot pay/update the vendor information at the same time)

Likelihood to Recommend

It's good for business with less Purchase order involved.

Automated AP experience

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Tipalti is used for Accounts payable purposes. Implementing this tool has efficiently changed the workflow of the accounting department and has made the internal process much easier. We use it on a daily basis to process invoices and payments, internal authorizations and once a week we run specific reports.

Pros

  • Excellent customer service
  • Accesible instructions
  • Friendly software design

Cons

  • I think there should be an option to process massive payments for invoices that are ready for payment. I personally filter per payee and select the invoices one by one.
  • Credit sync incorrectly in the ERP. It closes in Tipalti but remains open in SAP.
  • It would be great to receive an automated cash balance report every day.
  • I would appreciate if the OCR could detect if a document is an invoice or not. If it's not, it would be greatly appreciated to discard it automatically.

Likelihood to Recommend

I am picking a 9 because I find the system very useful and helpful for processing AP information, however, I am aware there are some tools that could be included to help us as a company to have a better insight of our resources.

I would also like to acknowledge the good attitude that the customer service has always offered to me and my team.

Tipalti - good support & good pricing

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Tipalti for our Accounts Payable operations. It integrates with Sage Intacct to use its accounting backbone. We utilize the ACH payment functionality for vendor remittances. We have started an automated workflow for managers to approve expenses before payment and stop using email approvals. My company is a small-medium business with several showrooms in the Mid-Atlantic.

Pros

  • Integrates with Sage Intacct
  • Processes and reads invoices well
  • Performs workflow automation well

Cons

  • Editing after processing means we have to restart the workflow to make small changes on invoices
  • Credit memos are not processed easily requiring duplicate effort
  • Payment processing is slow.

Likelihood to Recommend

Tipalti works well with Purchasing and integrating items for invoice matching. Setting up workflow and sending notes to users allows for notes and communication asynchronously. People are able to approve invoices easily through email. Although my organization doesn't use it for Expense Reporting, it would be very easy for employees to use. They also incorporate multiple currencies although my company doesn't need to use that functionality. As noted previously, credit memos are difficult and my company has a lot that come in from vendors for recalls, damaged equipment, and customers' changed minds.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Tipalti for Partner payables for our international partners located in the Caribbean and other territories not supported by our main card processor.

Pros

  • Swift reliable accurate support Service
  • Exceptional account relationships
  • Very UI Friendly, easy to navigate

Cons

  • More versatile payout schedules

Likelihood to Recommend

I'm just blown away by customer support. We've had issues pop up on occasion just like with any tech/payout tool, but the speed for resolution and their detailed and kind explanations make me forget any of my woes. A completely different experience than our other payout partnerships.
