Overall Satisfaction with Tipalti

We use Tipalti to take on the lion's share of our vendor and contractor payments process. We have both domestic and international vendors, and we need the flexibility of allowing different pay methods (wire, ACH, check, PayPal). Tipalti accommodates different approval workflows that are not rigidly tiered to title or position.

Pros

  • Vendor self service for managing pay methods and bank account details
  • Flexibility around setting approval workflows
  • Integration with NetSuite
  • No more need for us to track uncashed vendor checks

Cons

  • Integration and support for third party procurement cards (they're working on this; I trust they'll get there)
  • Since vendors update their own banking details, we are protected from phishing attempts
  • Multiple members of my accounting staff have been freed up from detailed and time-consuming tasks around vendor payment processing
  • Cash reconciliations are easier when we don't have to chase down old uncashed vendor payments
International vendor payments were a very time consuming process for us before Tipalti.
Concur was a miserable experience on the payables automation side for us. In my opinion, the implementation team did a poor job. Data sync into NetSuite was not real time. To me, the interfaces were archaic. Tipalti was such a breath of fresh air. I love working with their people. They have a regular and frequent cadence of new feature implementation. The interface is easy to work with.

Tipalti shifts my team's time from less value-added tasks (cutting vendor checks, tracking uncashed checks, updating vendor banking details) to the more important controls functions of making sure expenses are approved and are properly coded. Tipalti is very good with supporting international vendors. Tipalti likely requires customers to have a certain volume of vendors and vendor payments in order for there to be enough time and efficiency gains.
