Overall Satisfaction with Abila MIP Fund Accounting

My agency utilizes Abilia MIP to manage and track all revenues and grant expenditures for state, federal and private foundation funders. I use this product to ensure coding accuracy by comparing monthly summary activity statements to individual grant trial balances. These financial reports are then communicated to our board and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to drill down on particular expenditures or revenue sources.
  • Varying reporting levels depending upon the level of detail you are after.
  • Ability to customize reports based upon the level of detail.
  • Very robust program, but can be very complex and is not intuitive.
  • No general training available. Everything is module specific and quite expensive.
  • No direct link capabilities with Bank of America for electronic banking purposes.
  • MIP has enabled my agency to proactively manage revenues and expenditures and identify surplus/deficit trends that could negatively effect future funding.
  • MIP provides a high level of transparency when it comes to funders and external auditors.
MIP is very good at managing multiple funds from multiple sources. We have 12 programs funded by approximately 15 state, federal, and private foundations that consist of over 30 different grants which must all be tracked and reported on individually. We are able to create individual grant reports for monthly, quarterly or annual compliance reviews whenever the funder makes the request.
MIP Fund Accounting is better suited to medium size or larger organizations. The power and level of complexity is often more than what a smaller non-profit would find beneficial and affordable.
